Well, we've bought tickets and confirmed time off work. It's official, we're going to the Yucatan.

Seventeen days of sun, surf, sand, jungles, Meso-American temples and ruins, spicy food, chicken buses, beachside cabinas, Espanol... Ahhh, Central America!

Anyways, this post is to publish our tentative schedule. This is where we would like to solicit experience and suggestions from those who know the region. For instance, let us know if we're stretching ourselves thin or not taking enough time in a certain region/city. Or if it looks doable!

May 1 - May 17, 2009

• Day 1: Calgary --> Mexico City --> Cancun
• Day 2: Cancun --> Chichen Itza (ruins) --> Merida
• Day 3: Merida
• Day 4: Ticul --> Uxmal (ruins)
• Day 5: Ticul --> Campeche (change bus) --> Palenque (ruins)
• Day 6: Palenque, Mexico --> Flores, Guatemala (via bus-boat-jeep)
• Day 7: Tikal (ruins)
• Day 8: Tikal (ruins)
• Day 9: San Ignacio, Belize
• Day 10: Orange Walk Town --> Lamanai (ruins)
• Day 11: Chetumal
• Day 12: Chetumal --> Xpujil (ruins)
• Day 13: Xpujil --> Calakmul (ruins)
• Day 14: Tulum (ruins)
• Day 15: Cancun
• Day 16: Cancun --> Coba (ruins)
• Day 17: Cancun --> Mexico City --> Calgary
