...does it get any better???

the answer is most probably not!

So after oaxaca took another night bus and arrived in san cristobal de las casas...another small colonial towns...im quite used to these small colonial towns now..since i have spent really quite a lot of time in them...but this has many advantages as they are all built around the same plan ad i know the shortest route from the hotel to the bars/shops/coffee house in any town now...

whilst there we went to visit some indigenous communities...where one set tried to convince me that they healed sick people by putting a chicken in a bag and waving it around the sick persons head...i was somewhat suspicious of these claims, esp since this particular community was over 1000 years old and i doubted that the chicken in a bag had a particularly high success rate...and my suspicions were confirmed since on leaving the village i spotted a pharmacy!..lying indigenous bastards

then got to go on another boat trip...this time thru the sumidero canyon...was cool, fast boat, crocodiles, monkeys etc...

then hit another karoake bar in the evening..something which seems to be happening with disturbing frequency...

left san cristobal de las casas and headed towards palenque...on route stopped off at some of the most gorgeous waterfalls ever..swimming, and jumping off them ensued, followed by beers...

then arrived in palenque..the jungle...stayed in a great little jungle lodge, where they served amazing margaritas..which cost only one english pound, so easily settled in to a few evenings of margaritas, cards and chat....good times

palenque also has the best archeaological site i have seen so far..as it is an entire mayan city in the jungle!..which we got to run around and explore for a couple of hours, pretty interesting stuff...again here you are allowed to climb all over any remaining buildings...

left palenque yesterday and arrived in merida...and have spent the day in cenotes...which are underground caves filled with spring water...they were spectacular...and again spent the day swimming and jumping off various rocks into said caves...

tonight is a pool party at the hotels swimming pool....so must head off to pick up some of the local brew and stick on the bikini..
