Travelling the world means you should have enough information about the best ways to get from one point to the other. Getting from Cancun Airport to Tulum shouldn’t be something to downsize your travel experience. As a matter of fact, getting from the Airport to Tulum is very straightforward. Most travelers think it’s very difficult but the fact is that it’s easier than you might think. There are several ways you can do that. You can either choose a Rental car, buses, private drivers or hotel shuttles. The type of transportation you choose depends entirely on your preference and several other factors like the time of the day and the travel season.
Getting from Cancun airport to Tulum shouldn’t take all your savings. There’s something for everyone which means its very easy and super-fast. In this brief, we are going to explain all the options you have for getting to Tulum from Cancun Airport.
Private driver
This is one of the easiest and one of the fastest ways to get from the airport in Cancun to Tulum. It’s a perfect match when you want to get your vacation started in style. As a matter of fact, there are
a couple of drivers at the airport at your service. All of them are willing and able to transport you to your hotel room and back. Though, I usually think that it’s a nice thing to arrange the private driver in advance before you travel. This gives you peace of mind and at the same time reduces your hustle. I bet you don’t want to haggle over prices and fight with drivers at the start when you get to Mexico. To reduce all these risks, you should book your private driver in advance.
If you are thinking of traveling with the family or as a group, then this is the best option for you. The cost may vary but you are not going to pay more than $175 for 3 people.
Shuttles
Taking a
shuttle from Cancun to Tulum is another idea. You can opt for a shared airport shuttle especially if you are travelling as a group. Most airport shuttles carry up to 12 passengers. It’s not limited because you can choose to go with a shared shuttle or just get a private shuttle for your vacation. Though, choosing a shared shuttle can be a very difficult task which may take al lot of your time because you will be stopping to drop people from time to time. This means it may take a lot of your time.
The best option is to choose a private shuttle. This saves you a lot of time and at the same time gives you greater control. This may not take a lot of your time because you are only likely to pay $24 on the way or just $84 around the trip. That’s little money especially when you are travelling as a group.
On my case, I would book a one way first and then if there’s anything great I would book an all-round shuttle. This saves you money and at the same time gives you greater control. Getting to Cancun which has several things to do and see needs enough time. This means you should be free and available to witness everything without any struggles.
Bus travel
Bus travel from Cancun airport to Tulum is a good option especially if you are not in a hurry. It can as well be a good option when you are traveling on a budget. It is easy to think that in most of the cases the best option is to book an expensive taxi or get an airport shuttle. Thankfully, there are some other cheaper alternatives. You can choose to take the ADO buses which usually go direct from the airport to the center of Tulum.
As I had already stated earlier, the best option is to book your bus in advance. This reduces the time you take to shop around and at the same time gives you more control over your trip. Though, if you miss your trip, you are likely to wait for the next trip which may consume a lot of your time.
Rent a car
This is my preferred way of getting from the airport to Tulum. It’s not cheap but it will give you more control over your trip. You can stop to shop, go to the sites you prefer and at the same time take the time you want at any site. Car renting in Cancun are surprisingly cheap because you may end up paying $1 day on some sites. Though, you are going to pay their daily insurance of $15 per day. However, if you are willing to take the full responsibilities in case of anything along the way, you can deny the insurance.
Above and beyond all the above methods of getting from Cancun airport to Tulum, am convinced that Car rental is the best method. You will be having the car and hence you will experience all the great things in the city without any hurry.
Colectivos from Cancun to Tulum
These are small mini buses that pick people along the highway and will drop you wherever you want. Though, you will notice that these minibuses don’t pick people up from the Cancun Airport. These Colectivos are more casual way to travel especially for shorter routes. The fact is that there are two Colectivo services between Cancun and Tulum. Though, you will first of all have to take a colectivo to Playa Del Carmen and after that switch to the Colectivos that now go from playa Del Carmen to Tulum. You will not get a Colectivo service that will take you all the way to Tulum from Cancun.
Above are the main ways of getting from Cancun to Tulum. You can choose any of the methods depending on your budget and preferences. The one you choose will also depend on several other factors including time and the number of people you want to be with in the bus.
