Has anybody ever composed a list of the dumbest themed bars in the world? That would surely put Pachuca, Hidalgo on the map. Last night we went to Zirco, a circus themed bar. I wonder who thought that would be a good idea. But the circus bar that we went to was not the one I knew about, there is another fucking circus bar in Pachuca. In a city that has 300,000 people there are two circus themed bars. Pachuca has the most circus themed bars per capita of any city in the world (consult wikipedia.) When I got there our friends were trying to get in to the bar. Somebody asked me to "work my magic." As it was a circus themed bar, I felt that phrase was appropriate. So I just told the ... read more

Well, I thought that I had posted another travel blog a while ago, but i was wrong, I am sorry. What can I say. You can all yell at me another time. For the time being, enjoy this one. Well this all begins on All Saints Day, also known as November 1. After school, I hopped a bus to a town called Pátzcuaro. Pátzcuaro is a town in the state of Michoacan, about 35 or 40 minutes from the state capital of Morelia. Morelia is about 4 hours from Mexico City, with no traffic. This is also a funny concept, that is the idea of no traffic in Mexico City because this city makes LA traffic look like a Sunday night at 4 am. So I headed out from Pachuca around 4 in the afternoon, ... read more

Well, this is a good question. Apparently, we do. So the story begins with a backdrob of two weeks ago in Mexico City. Josh, Antonella (Josh's "friend") and myself went to Mexico DF for the weekend. Friday night, near the Zocalo, at the spanish cultural center. We are wating in line to get into the club, and sure enough, we meet some folks. Of course, there is at least one güero in the group, but this is alright, because we are all talking in spanish. Well, we are talking in a mix of spanish and enlgish. We are finally let into the club, go upstairs to have a few drinks, and listen to some trance music. Ok so let's fastforward to 2 am, and the club is closing. Party-goers are spewing into the street below and ... read more

So I finally got sick for the first time since I've been down here. I think it was an egg torta... the worst part was that I went to a buffet, but couldn't eat... That is like the grandest shame in the history of shames that I can imagine. But luckily it was a well-priced vegetarian buffet... so I didn't miss out on too much. I was sick so I didn't have to come to school. I graded papers and updated my ipod... a very productive day in my opinion. In geography class we are learning about the atmosophere. It turns out that a country owns the air above it until you reach outter space... thats like 1,000 miles or something. Lichtenstein is not as small as you thought. In the grammar classes I am teaching ... read more

Oh man, the sound of pipes clanking is amazing. Espically when there is no water in them. Apparently water, I mean running, water that comes out of your faucet is a luxury that you get even if you have indoor plumbing and the ability to have running water. Having a constant supply of running water is something that I have learned to value. Let's put it this way, when you can't use your toilet, it's an amazing thing what you can do. Haha. So, moving on, we have had runnin water now, for almost one day since the last failure. YESS! I don't want to give the impression that this happens all the time, but, it does happen. Quite the interesting expereince. I am really going to move on from this now. School is going ... read more

So I went to see Snakes on a Plane in Pachuca last night. The titular line is ruined by translation. "Estoy cansado sobre esos malditos serpientes abordo este maldito avion." Which translates to: "I am sick of these darn snakes aboard this darn plane." ... read more

I haven't had a weekend in like five years. I, of course, mean that in the most positive of sense. Nearly everyday for the past five years, has been what regular people would consider a weekend. Sure, I had class, obligations, etcetera... but for the most part I could get drunk every night. But for the first time since, high school, I felt like my monday through friday warranted an actual weekend... that is, something to look forward to. On the friday of my first weekend back in the game (being a member of mainstream society, ie. holding a job.) I went to a concert. We saw this band called Babasonicos, they are from Argentina. It's an uncommon occurrence for a band with such (partial) fame to come to Pachuca. I think its equivalent to The ... read more
