The border town of Tijuana could not be more different from the US, however, this place is not typical of any mexican town as it is so close to the US. Americans come here to buy cheap medicine and cheap beer and this is reflected in the number of pharmacies and bars.

We visited with a hostel organised shopping trip because prices there are so low compared with the US and the place is famous for silver. The thing that hits you most is the poverty here, its a stark contrast to the USA with people everywhere all trying to sell you something or other. Children in particular no more than 5 years old will follow you down the street trying to sell you something and they don't give up easily!

You also have to feel sorry for the donkeys that the locals paint with black stripes and then ask you if you want a picture with the "zebra".

After our shopping tour we visited some mexican bars for a few drinks which was interesting. The places are packed with US teenagers as they can cross the border and go in bars when they are 18 not 21.

It is an experience!!!!!!
