Axel's Meat
Axel's Meat Monday was the greatest day ever. We slept past 10am, had room service for breakfast and sunbathed all day. By sunbathe, I mean that we laid on the top deck of the ship and slept for a few more hours. I even left my pajamas on. I have no shame! After a tough day of sleeping in the sun, we repeated the previous night and were out cold by 10:30.
Tuesday we tried a little harder to join the land of the living. It was hot out, so we sunbathed (I even wore my swim suit) on the top deck, had some yummy beverages and even caught the midnight comedy show. Don't tell anyone, but we fell asleep in the third row... Axel has enjoyed investigating the ship. I think that if he looms around the engineering room much longer, they may call security. I think that Axel's favorite part of the cruise so far is the food. More specifically the meat. Last night he had this amazing dish at dinner. In the picture below he is bracing himself for attack and so so happy. I love my carnivorous sailor!
We are now officially hitched. For our honeymoon, we
Sunset on the Pacific
Sunset on the Pacific are heading to the west coast of Mexico via the Carnival Pride. I would like to say that we have been out all night hitting the bars, making new friends or laughing our heads off at the comedy club. But no. We have been sleeping. Really. Sleeping. I don't think that either of us relaized exactly how exausted we were until we fell asleep in the thrid row of the midnight show last night.
We woke up Sunday morning at a brisk 5:30am. Apparently being married means waking up at the crack of dawn..... After loading our bags into the rental car, we realized that we still needed to stow the wedding apparrel and the framed prints from Mannie and Jen. We went to the front desk and requested they stow them. Then we snuck into the hotel breakfast buffet loaded up several plates and sprinted outside before anyone noticed we had left with them. With that we fled to the airport.
Fortunately, we had a nice 5 hour flight to catch up on the sleep we somehow misplaced the week before. unfortunately we also missed the inflight meal and felt like savages tearing open the handy bag of pretzels we were left to share.
Upon arrival in Los Angelos, we boarded our handy little bus and headed for the pier to board our cruise ship. We observed some people coming from a building to the east and skipping the long line we were waiting in to get on the ship. I promptly ascertained how they did that and managed to arrange for us the same benefit.
When we finally boarded the ship, we had a beautiful arrangement of chocolate covered strawnerries, champagne and fruit waiting in our room. Axel always remembers our strawberries and champagne tradition. 😊
After watching our first of many magnificent sunsets, we headed to dinner and attempted to attend the 10:00 show. After we fell asleep during the opening act, we declared ourselves worse than the retirees and headed to bed. Crashing at 9 or 10 became par for the
course for our vacation. It was so nice to be able to go to bed early. I can't believe I ever fought my parents on an 8:30 bedtime. What I would kill for that now!
