Cabo Marina
Tons of fishing boats. Today we took a cab down to the shopping mall near the marina in search of a sweatshirt for Jan to deal with the cool evenings. We hit every store on three levels without finding a sweatshirt and that was enough for me. It was time to go down to the Marina to get hounded by the guys hawking the fishing boats. We went to a place called Ole Ole and had a couple margaritas and some chips and guacamole. Wow, full strength drinks that aren't from the all inclusive place hit you fast! I had enough of a buzz to go talk to one of the fishing boat guys and get him excited about signing us up, with no intention of doing so. I think we're going to book the fishing at the resort. We hit a couple stores near the marina with no luck on the sweatshirt. We got so desparate that Jan talked me into taking a cab to Walmart! I sat outside while she cruised the Walmart aisles to no avail.
So we hopped another cab back to downtown. We then walked around to a bunch of the local stores in town, still in search of
Squid Roe
Big bar for the young folks. the elusive sweatshirt. They just don't have them around here. We finally found a couple stores that had them and Jan started negotiating prices after telling me to go outside so I didn't screw it up. This was because she bought a silver Omega (kind of necklace, for those of you like me who don't know what an omega is). The price started at $120 American and I told her to buy it when the girl went down to $80. Jan scolded me and told me to keep my mouth shut while she got the price down to $60. After that, she wouldn't let me negotiate anything but the drinks at Cabo Wabo.
We took a cab to Cabo Wabo to relax a while from all the grueling shopping. These stores need to give you a shot of tequila while you're there like the jewelry stores I went to in Acupulco years ago. There they gave me a cerveza, a shot and even Mexican alka seltzer. Anyway, at Cabo Wabo we ran into a couple women who were in town from one of the cruise ships. They were Chicago area natives, with one of them still living in Northbrook,
Cabo Wabo
Sammy Hagar's Place Joanne. The other, Deb, lives in Phoenix now. They were pretty toasted when I ran into them at the bar doing a shot of tequila and they offered to help me decide which tequila to have. I passed on the $22 shot and went with the Cabo Wabo Anejo for $8. They joined us at our table and told us all about their cruise. From here they were going to Puerto Vallarta and Mazatlan. They had ten minutes before they had to be on the ship so I bought them another shot, just to make the return to the ship more exciting. We said our goodbyes and had one more drink before catching a cab back to the resort.
