POUTINEPOUTINEPOUTINE

Fries, cheese, pork and gravy.
The flight to Montreal reminded us that there are little people in the world. We found that some of the little people do not cope with being on a plane for 3 hours. Our ears and the co-passengers were subject to over two hours crying and screaming. The required face mask did not protect us!

We stayed at Auberge du Vieux-Port which is in old Montreal and overlooking the harbor. Most of the buildings are converted warehouses from the 1800s with thick granite walls.

Some of the sights we saw include the Notre Dame basilica. Although it doesn't have the historical significance of the namesake in Paris, it is from 1800s and is absolutely beautiful. The mixture of blue and gold was breathtaking. The organ was playing and reverberating the whole church

Another sight included the Chateau Ramezay museum. It provided some history of Montreal. Was not aware of the short civil war in the 1830s between the French and English. There still seems to be some simmering dispute between the French and English Canadians. An example are two statutes in the square next to the Notre Dame cathedral. A man with an English pug dog and a woman with a French poodle.

We tried the poutine dish which is considered a national dish of this region. French fries with gravy and cheese curds. I think once was enough. However, for Leona's 70th birthday, we went to Bonaparte which is the top rated restaurant on Open Table. We had the six course tasting menu which lasted 3 hours and each course was beautifully presented. Enjoyed every minute of it. Leona had her drink of choice, Moet and Chandon Imperial.

Next is Quebec City by way of Via Rail.
