The drive from Kentville to Caribou took about 2.5 hours with very variable weather - cloudy with periods of drizzle. Caribou is where you catch a ferry to PEI.

There is a ferry and a bridge to PEI. You do not pay to go there but you do pay to leave. We were told the return ferry cost is $76 for vehicle including passengers and the bridge is cheaper. The ferry crossing was 75 minutes. You will notice that the sign says the cost is subsidized by the Feds. However, BC Ferry ships are much nicer.

Boarding the ferry was a bit of a shock. You enter on one level where the larger vehicles are parked. From there, some cars go up ramps to an upper level. Other cars including us go down a ramp to be swallowed inside the hull - the last place you want to be if the ship were to sink.

We circumvented Charlottetown because we will go there on Sunday.

Our B & B was not available until 3:30 so we found a very picturesque village - Victoria and had a coffee. We have dinner reservations there.
