Finally, Dropzone 56 secs
1 additional video(s) currently being processed Wonderland here we come!
The first to arrive, Penny, Tony, Dad, Adrienne, Curtis and Mom Canada's Wonderland is an amusement park outside Toronto that my parents took us to usually once every summer when we were kids. It was always one of the highlights with plenty of roller coasters, and other gravity defying rides. Me my brother and sister would get off one ride and practically run to the next one, if we didn't run right back onto the one we just came off! Plenty of happy memories. So as it turns out, while I've been living in Scotland my family has been making pilgrimages to Wonderland every few years, so when it worked out that we could arrange another visit this summer....I was pretty excited. There was one particular ride called the dropzone, which had opened the year I left for Scotland, but had been broken. So I never got to ride it. As it turns out, I got to ride it this time, and it is up there as one of my alltime favourites.
The other ride, that probably is my favourite was new to me, the Behemoth. Which is a ridiculously fun, or as Penny put it, terrifying roller coaster. She had told me that she wasn't going to do anything she
Warming up
Dad and Tony warm up with....the Psyclone??? Nerves of steel I tell ya! didn't want to do, and she doesn't like roller coasters. So you can imagine my shock when she not only did Behemoth the scariest ride in the park, but did it again at night! Yes Peachy, you've earned brownie points ;o) So my cousin Tony, and his son Curtis and daughter Adrienne, my mom and dad, Penny and myself headed off to Wonderland, and met my sister Marita and her husband Shaun for a day of thrills. Everyone pushed the envelope a bit:
- Penny conquered Behemoth
- I finally got to ride drop zone (and loved every second of it!)
-Tony warmed up with one of my favourite rides, "Psyclone" which has one of the best tummy flipping sensations in the park!
- Curtis rode every adrenaline pumping, scream inducing ride I rode including the backwards rollercoaster..."the Bat" which he'd never done
- Adrienne managed to keep her hands up all the way through Behemoth (no small feat!)
- Dad at the grand age of 72 was probably the oldest man on the oldest ricketiest roller coaster in Wonderland "The Great Canadian Minebuster"
- Marita tackled more than a few rides that she openly admitted terrified her including
Psclone in effect
Dad and Tony are up there somewhere...man it looks like fun doesn't it? the front seat of Dragon Fire
- Shaun tackled a ride nicknamed "the brain scrambler", which until that point only my dad had dared to do
-Last but not least my mom broke her alltime ride record tackling six or possibly 7 of the parks rides (including the
Apart from the adrenaline shots we all had, there were plenty of laughs, sharing of stories, and it was great to spend a bit of time with family. The more family the better! One of the highlights for Marita and Penny was riding a small roller coaster called the fly with my mom. The three of them had a photo taken on the ride (but we didn't buy it although in hindsight we should have!), and the picture does tell a thousand words, I'll try to sum it up in less. My mom's face is one of grave concern, while Penny and Marita look like they've got tears in their eyes and are about to pee their pants from laughter. My mom apparently narrated the whole ride with an injection of "Oh no's". "Oh God's", and other such exclamations in a tone that conveyed terror, amusement, and a sense that she
Psyclone me
It looked like so much fun I had to try...here's the view! wanted the ride over sooner rather than later!
Of course all good things must come to an end, and Marita and Shaun had to leave early, while Curtis, Adrienne, myself and Pen managed to get one last ride in before the park closed, Behemoth. The first time we rode Behemoth Penny had made noises I'd never heard, I heard her genuinely terrified and making squeels and screams that were layered with different levels of fear. The look on her face at the first drop said alot with her eyes wide open, eyebrows raised and mouth wide open! I think somehow she enjoyed the second ride more, perhaps because it was dark and she couldn't see the ground hurtling towards her? In any event we finished our last ride to be greeted by our parents with funnel cakes topped with icecream and strawberries....a perfect end to a fantastic day. When's the next one!!?? Sorry there aren't more photo's but we were just having too much fun to stop and take piccies!
