Hill and Kev arrive at Pearson International Airport.
And so it began!

Hillary and I arrived at Pearson International Airport on Sunday, January 25, 2009 to begin our little cross globe adventure, which would eventually land us in Australia for our SWAP Working Holiday. We made sure to arrive plenty early at the airport since it was an international flight to London, England. Although, maybe even a little too early for a Sunday night (which was my fault, lol).

The airport was empty. Showing our pre-printed boarding passes and going through security was a breeze! There was about 5 security lines available (which the x-ray machines), and not a single person in line anywhere. Next thing we know, we found ourselves picking up some food at Tim Hortons with plenty of time to spare. But all was not peachy... I had lost my credit card! Hadn't even left the country, and things were already missing. We made a few quick phone calls, and decided we'd have to move on without it. Not the best way to start our trip. lol

We waited around for the plane, and boarded a little later than planned. But once we were finally on, the plane was empty! We were flying

British Airways, and departing at 9pm (ended up being around 9:30pm. Not too bad). It was a 767-200/300, a good size plane. Now picture only about a third of the plane being used! The seating arrangement was 2-3-2 across per row, and once the flight was off the ground, those groups of 3 seats were being used in no time as good sized beds! With so little people on board as well, staff had plenty of time to help travellers out, including handing out extra drinks right from the get-go! And for the both of us, the whole overnight flying was a new experience. Blankets, toothbrushes (with toothpaste), eyeshades and even socks, all in a neat little package. For me, tvs with a beefy selection of movies, tv and music was a pleasant surprise as well. Such a waste carrying along all my videogames and laptop. lol Anyways, the flight was great, and 7 hours later we arrived at Heathrow Airport! Unfortunately, we only managed to get about an hour's worth of sleep each, which meant our next day in London could shape up to be a long one...
