Hello

Thanks for all your messages. Hope your all well.

After an emotional farewell, we arrived safe and sound in Toronto. It was a long day arriving at our hostel Canadiana Backpackers Inn at 4am British time.

Anne found it a bit strange getting into dorm life, freaking slightly about the creaking beds and waking herself up snoring and potentially waking others. Dee being awoken by another dorm buddy coughing all night. Despite our restless night's sleep we managed to drag ourselves out of bed for (our free) pancakes and tea at 9am, YUM YUM! We booked an extra 3 nights as we liked the ambience of the hostel so much.

We picked a good time to be in Toronto as loads of festivals seem to be a OCCURING. 1st day we walked into a Nautical festival, we wandered around some pirate/viking looking ships (for free) and listened to an Irish band, and watched some Canadians do a frenzied jig which was entertaining. We also managed to score some (free) nan breads to go with our tea, We're LOVING the FREE stuff :-)

We found a Jazz festival the following day and discovered it was pride week too.

We had a day out on Toronto Islands. A 10 minute ferry ride from the city to the calm and beautiful islands. We had a picnic in the sunshine. Dee got excited on discovering some swings and had to have a go (the child). We had a skycar ride across the islands, wandered around a farm and had an ice-cream by the beaches. It was a lovely place worth a visit for only a $6.50 ferry ride.

We've booked a 2 day trip to Niagara Falls for tomorrow which we're looking forward to, we might actually believe we're in Canada then.

We'll update our blog and try to figure out how to get some pictures on here too for next time.

Love and Hugs Anne and Denise xxx

Beats working!
Anne and Denise, This globe trottin' beats working any time. Like when you were in Oz, I feel like packing in the day job and heading off in to the sunset! Seems you're living economically- well brought up! Just been to what must really be Anne's baby brother Ben's last school concert in a church in Marshfield. A very talented group of musicians/singers they are too. Glass of wine and nibbles after. Ben was off to his very last school ball, by limousine, the day before yesterday, so its the end of his school era for definite. Enjoy Toronto, Roland
