Espanola, On
Raymond and his 9 month old puppy! Moving on west and north was quiet. Our Medal Bearer groups became quite small, but no less as difference makers! We found that the smaller the communites got, the more excited they were about having us. Esanola put on a fabulous dinner for us. Blind River put on a community pot luck for us! When we arrived in Sault Ste. Marie we were whisked away to the Tomie family for a yummy festive dinner with Adriana, Lary, Erin and Lary's mom and sisters. The next relay day, Erin did her 300 metre segment. She was nominated by Hank. After Sault Ste. Marie, we moved onto Wawa. Everyone was excited to get there as we had planned "Wawapalooza" in honor of Pat and Eric's birthdays. We had teams or 2 or 3 and had to create an original cocktail. Costumes were optional! We stayed in lovely log chalets. The town of Wawa had a meal for us at our end of day celebration! These northerners love feeding us! The next day, we moved on to White River and then Marathon. White River, the home of Winnie the Pooh, fed us lunch. We stayed in Marathon and the next day moved on to
Elliot Lake
Early morning leaving Elliot Lake after a nice visit with Ma and Pa! Nipgon and finally Thunderbay. We finished our first half of the Relay at the Terry Fox Monument. Ty, our young endurance participant carried the medal up the hill in his wheelchair. We were all so proud of the amazing young man. This was also his last day with us. Tears were shed, although they froze shortly after leaving the eye! Last night with the crew at the Valhalla in Thunder Bay was fun! We were all so excited to go home and see our family and friends!
Happy Holidays Everyone!
Love Jeepa and Weedie xoxo
