They are civilized up here in Canada !!
Hello,
Well we've completed the heading North part of our trip . You can't go much more north than Canada !!
Saturday, we finally got to the mall. Kylie and Tori only got around 1/2 of it. Josh and I went and bought another phone, same as the old one. I managed to change over my old phone number and the minutes that were left on it too. So that was a bonus. They are only $40 and you get 300 minutes with it.
Came home , got organised and went to the New Egypt speedway to meet up with Tommy and Ethan. $15 to get in and kids free, they had a Christmas in july thing going on. Santa and Mrs Claus were there and they did a raffle for bikes, radios, 26" LCD tv etc. We didnt win anything. Its a dirt track, so much more like Palmy. Its a 1/2 mile track and it had to be 60m wide. It was huge!!! In the program it said that if you do a 15 sec lap , your'e going 120 mph. They had sprint cars like we have and the winner did a 16 sec lap. No contact on

any of their classes, if someone got spun around the yellow lights would come on and it had to be cleared until the race could resume. Yes it took ages for a race to run. Loud, they definately dont have a 90dB restriction like we have in NZ. Kylie and Trish went out to a bar somewhere, they were all still up when we got home. So Josh went and stayed at Ethans house and Grace stayed in the Trailer. Tommy said the boys were up to after 1.30am playing play station. We had the better deal as Grace slept until about 1/4 to 9.
Sunday, We tidied up around the place, then after lunch we all went for a canoe ride down a dirty river near Tommy and Trish's. We hired canoe's. Ross and Christa got Josh in theres. We had Tori in ours, Tommy, Trish, Ethan and Grace got a bigger one. Saw quite a few Water turtles along the way, It was just a narrow slow flowing river. We met a lot of other people along the way doing the same thing. It was reasonabley hot going down the river, we stopped on the side of the

river for lunch. Went back to Tommy and Trish's afterwards, Sat out the back watching the kids play. We grabbed some dvd,s off them for our trip the next day.Ross and I fed the horses when we got home.
Monday morning Josh woke us all early when he got up to go the 'bathroom'. So we thought we might as well get up and get on the road. After filling up the truck, $2.27/GAL in Jersey . We got away about 9am. Headed up the Pennsylvania turnpike. We're getting our travelling days pretty organised nowadays. Both kids are settled into the back seats. DVD player sitting on the turned over seat in front of them, Their comforatable headphones they bought each. Every now and again you get a bit of a laugh out of one of them, at some funny part of the movie. Kylie sits there reading the newspaper from cover to cover.Only to be disturbed by another toll booth. The GPS is set for Buffalo , NY as it wouldn't go into Canada. I set the cruise control for 60 MPH, press the tow button as that keeps it in a lower gear. Thats good until we hit

the hills. As the truck tries to keep us flying up the hills at that speed, The big Hemi will definately do it, but the motor is sure working and thats my gas gauge going down. By 12.30pm were in the high country of Pennsylvania.Trees for miles is all you can see, we stop to fill up, $2.71/Gal here. How can it be such a difference in price only 3 1/2 hrs down the road.We pulled into a large carpark of a grocery store, pulled the slide out and cooked Tori and I a thin Tortilla for lunch. After another toilet stop for Tori we are off. Into New York state the kids are onto their 3rd movie, Kylie goes back to watch one and Josh comes up to navigate ( YEH RIGHT !!! ) .The GPS tells us to go one way but we know better and go the way planned, OH it only adds 6 minutes difference to go our way. I certainly wouldn't trust it to get us somewhere without roughly knowing where we are going. Through Syracuse and head for Buffalo. About 4pm we pull into a service area for more gas. $2.65/GAL this time. Try

to ring ahead to the campground were staying at tonight to say we will probably be late getting there and our phones wont let us ring international. So I rung dad in Florida, he gets on the computer to try and find what the prefix is. He cant so he rings the campground for me. About 6pm, and weve only just got to Buffalo, so we stop for tea at a service area. Dad rings to say they will wait up for us.When we get to the Canadian border, we had to wait in a traffic queue to talk to the customs guy. Both Claridge girls were busting to go toilet, well I cant go anywhere can I ? Once thru therewe stopped at a information place, it was closed. So I had to pull out the slide on the trailer so they could use the one in there. Then the orange fuel light came on, so we had to get off the highway and get more GAS !!!!!! 89c/Litre oh yeh were in Canada now . By this time it was going dark.So we still had to drive about 3/4 hr to find our campground. Got there at 10.30pm,

Our new awning, lucky as its raining today.
luckily she was waiting up for us. So we found our site, set up power, water, sewage, side out, legs down and went to bed. Bags not doing that again.
Tuesday, Today we slept in funnily enough.Went up to the shop to get some quarters for the shower.this one has a pay box in there with you, you get 4 minutes of water for a quater. After lunch we went to a little town called Cambridge down the road. Yes just like in NZ, Cambridge is near Hamilton. Here Hamilton has about 500,000 people. Just baked our Gluten free bread and brownee for Josh. Weve got rain this afternoon for the 1st time in ages. Were half way between Toronto and Naiagra falls, so were planning to go to both of them at some stage this week.
