Oh boy, day 3 was rough! We were plagued with traffic and bad weather on and off the whole drive. It was a mess!
We started off pretty great though. Went to the Mall of America before we got on the road. It turned out we were closer to Minneapolis than we thought so it made getting to the mall pretty easy. This place was insane! I couldn't even fathom the size of this mall. Three stories of store after store, an aquarium on the first floor, oh and don't forget the mini theme park in the middle of everything! Yup, that would be Nickelodeon Universe with Nickelodeon themed rides/roller coasters. What!? If only we were 15 years younger..
To answer your question, yes, of course we did some shopping in the Mall of America. You can't go in there without at least buying something! So naturally, we went to Old Navy. Ha! On the bright side, since I was slacking, I did get an American flag shirt for the game. Nothing like last minute!
Then we were on our way to our final destination, Winnipeg. Our first detour was to stop and see Otto the Otter. Not
sure what the significance of him is but as you can see he was just a giant statue of an otter next to a lake. David tried to climb onto his back to get a picture but it wasn't very easy so he opted for a nap on his tail instead. We also saw a little turtle when we were walking up so David snapped his picture and then got hissed at. We then headed up the road and saw the booming prairie chicken. I saw a video of this delightful creature doing it's mating call so I figured why not get a couple snap shots. 😊
Onto the last stretch of the drive. Everything was going great until we hit some random traffic and then a couple of storms. I snapped a picture of the one before we hit it since you can see the section where it is raining. Otherwise, we were just enjoying the scenery and of course, each other's company. And speaking of, David came up with some more Indian jokes for everyone to enjoy.
Who is an Indian's favorite dog? Rin Tin Tindian
Why was the Indian dizzy? Someone dared him to
spindian
Indians never frown, they always grindian
Until next time...
I must say, I found it pretty incredible how flat North Dakota is. You could see nothing but land for miles, it was amazing. I told David that if we ever want to get away from everything, this is the place to go. We would probably have to go south for the winter though. 😉
Once we got through the storms we finally saw some life, we were only 5 miles from the border! As we started to get excited because we were so close we came to a dead stop behind a very long line of cars. Two hours later, we finally made it to border patrol and in only three minutes, were allowed to pass right on through. By now it was 11:30 and we still had an hour of driving left. Ugh!When we finally made it to the hotel, we hopped right in bed and passed out. It was a very long day and we were very happy to have it behind us. Now we can focus on getting excited for the game! Look for us, we'll be the little people in the
nosebleeds. 😊
