We entered back into British Columbia today heading down the Cassiar Highway. We knew going down this road would be interesting because it's only been paved a few years. The first part of the road was narrow and had LOTS of frost heaves, but the next part was just narrow. Driving is always an adventure when you are in the middle of nowhere. We are dry camping for the night at a place called Jade City. It's called Jade City because they mine jade in the area and they have a huge store full of different things made out of jade. I found several things I would have liked to buy, but the prices were about double what they should have been. On the drive we went through an area where 30,000 acres of land burned in July of 2010. The destruction was on both sides of the road and as far as your eyes could see. Both in the remote parts of Canada and Alaska we learned a majority of the time these fires are caused by lightening.
