Day 110 (Saturday 08/08/09, NJJ)
The wind and rain kept us awake much of the night. Checked out of the resort. Sat in the restaurant for a time. Had delicious lunch. Lay on sun loungers for ½ hour. After saying bye to everyone our boat left the island at 2pm. Jamie stood for majority of the trip as it was so bumpy that it kept jarring his back. Minibus took us to Raffles where we could use the facilities until we went to the airport. Plane took off at 10pm. Flight took about 10.5 hours to Los Angeles. Landed at LAX at 1.30pm local time on 08/08/09, 19 hours behind Fiji. Had to go through customs even though we were in transit and going to Canada. I was finally able to buy magazines without paying extortionate prices for the first time since being away. Took our next flight to Vancouver, Canada, landed 21.45. Taxi to Granville Grand Hotel. Went to bed in the narrowest and shortest double bed weve ever seen.
