Off The Grid - Bobtail Lake

The area surrounding Prince George is beautiful - rolling hills, forests, big bold rivers. We spent two days with friends at their cabin at Bobtail Lake, about an hour and a half west. Driving there on forestry roads, we almost ran into a herd of cattle. Signs warning of moose appeared often. But once tucked into our private little cabin with a view of the lake, life was good. Our friends took us for a boat ride to see the little beach on the island where Tim's best friend Phil's ashes were spread - a big eagle guarding the spot. I picked wild blueberries with their grandchildren and Tim and the boys drove down the road to practice shooting 22's. Having to drive to the top of a hill to get cellular reception was not a bad thing. Living life off the grid is good for the soul. Great company, good food, generous, wonderful hosts, stunning sunsets, the sound of loons on the lake, and the silence of the forest. I kind of like it here.
