The view while skiingThe view while skiingThe view while skiing

It is easy to see how we got distracted by the view while skiing.
Boxing Day was going to be very different, no Boxing Day cricket or Sydney to Hobart race to watch. We were set for a second day on the mountain. This time with Ash and her friends on the real ski runs. We immediately head up the Lake Louise gondola to the peak of the mountain. A very daunting thought for the both of us. Our day skiing the runs can not be described as successful. We spend much time on our backsides sliding down the snow. However we did both enjoy the day but were relieved when we made it to the bottom with no major injuries. Ash and her friends were very patient with us. We stopped for lunch at a restaurant lodge in the middle of the mountain. It was a different experience to ski to lunch then ski home. By he bottom we were doing better than the start. Ryan had his own way of changing direction when going down the step parts, he would ski sideways across the mountain, slid on his backside, roll over then head to the other side to do the same again. Meanwhile Theresa was a bit more brave and would turn, before

heading straight down the hill to crash with a bit of speed behind her. Once our day was over we headed for our next accommodation, Deer Lodge right near the actual lake. The town of Lake Louise is about 5 km away from the lake. Ryan was surprised when he discovered there was no TV in the room, which meant no basketball to watch. We are staying about 500 metre from the chateau where we walked down to for dinner. Inside the chateau was very impressive as it was its own small town within the motel, where the town was bigger than actual Lake Louise. We headed to the saloon for dinner, trying potato skins, we guess its traditional Canadian food as we have never seen it anywhere else. We returned home, grabbed a book and sat by fire and read a book and wrote this blog.

We ate at a small lodge in the ski fields. This was the view from the verandah. It was to cold to each outside though.
