UntitledAfter waking up at 4:00 a.m. and heading to the airport to catch a 6:30 a.m. flight we arrived in Fort McMurray. Fort McMurray is a small town in northern Alberta which is the land of the oil sands. In summary, this area is the largest oil reserve in the world, bigger than Saudia Arabia. This means that a very high percentage of the oil used in the United States is coming from this very place. We went on a 3 hour bus tour of the oil sands to see the production of oil, which is extracted from the dirt, and the repalcement of nature in the areas that have been dug up. In all honesty I was confused with all of the process, but what I can say is that there is a lot of money in this area. After our tour of the oil sands and lunch at a local restaurant we headed back to the hotel to rest and catch up on needed sleep.

WOW!
It is hard for me to take in all the information that you are able to share here on your blog, I can't imagine all the information your brain is trying to retain. Well, I was very intrigued by the information about the oil. I had no idea the we had a source so close to us, I feel like we have always been taught to believe that it comes from overseas...its amazing what a trip or some research can teach you.

Hi Ms. Camacho, I feel the same way. I had no idea how much of our energy comes from Canada. Also I completely agree with you on traveling. You can learn so much from it. Thanks for your comment! Take care, Sr. Reina
