I really don't believe that we are actually doing this but here we go again. Having only just returned last July from a wonderful seven week trip to Europe, once again, Jeanette and I sat down to planning our fourth trip to the continent which, God willing, we plan to undertake this summer, departing Calgary on June 4. Jeanette has led the process this time and spent considerable time researching and formulating the ideas. Of course I help too, but frankly, she has done most of it. We had originally planned on spending two months in two distinctly different parts of Spain but we in the end could not put exactly what we wanted together so decided on this seven week trip which will take us to Central Europe mostly, with visits to Poland, Hungary, Slovakia, Czech Republic (first time visits) and Germany, Austria (second visits) and Belgium (third visit). God willing, we intend to explore areas that we have not been to, as much as we can. And of course enjoy the culture, cuisine and people, as usual. A really good friend has arranged for her cousin to meet us in Budapest and we are looking forward to that. An
interesting Polish doctor and his wife that I met recently have urged us to include a visit to Wroclaw which many speak most highly of. We will first see how that addition would affect the logistics and since they are the second Poles to mention that city to me, it is probably worth serious consideration.
All airlines have been booked, accommodation confirmed, a rental car secured for Hungary and some tours confirmed. All that is left now is continuing research, booking of more tours and lastly, securing train tickets which can only be purchased ninety days before boarding, except for Poland which is one month ahead.
While we put the few finishing touches together, we also prepare for my mother's 100th birthday celebrations on May 2, 2015.
