Edit Blog Post
Two months since my last blog, and I am still a little short on subject matter.
Things have been fairly consistent for the last 2 months - consistently cold, consistently working, and consistently unsure as to where I'm going next.
So points to mention, although some seem so long ago, are:
Jorge and Mandy visited Banff on their Honeymoon. Sarah and I took them on a little tour around Banff, up to Lake Louise via the back road, up the Gondola to see the view and have coffee in the highest restaurant in Canada, and polished the day off soaking in the hot springs.
Jorge didn't get to see any Moose, even though we passed Moose meadows; I don't think Mandy had told him that moose like swampy land, not rocky mountains.

The Canmore Eagles were on a 4 game losing streak, but had high hopes of beating the Okotoks Oilers at the Canmore Arena. I went along with Pokie and Liam.
For a small donation you can get a box of Macaroni and Cheese to shake to help inspire the local lads. I shook it once or twice
- three times actually.
First time was after the first Eagles goal, the second during the only fight of the game (fighting is prohibited in junior 'A' Hockey, and is supposingly discouraged, but the DJ played "hit me with your best shot" during it...so I'm not so sure), and thirdly, when the Eagles scored their 2nd goal. Other than that, the box stayed silent....and the Eagles went down 5 -2, for a fifth straight loss.

Christmas passed with out to much enthusiasm. Working retail up to christmas destoyed any joy the occasion should bring...I was so over the whole thing; after a month and a half of daily dishings of christmas carols, decorations, stocking stuffers and wrapping paper.
Christmas lunch at my house was an exploration into new christmas food. We couldn't afford a turkey or ham (not that I knew how to cook it in a conveccion oven), so we went with christmas pork chops on the Barbie. I brought bean salad to make it feel a little like home. I tried making a Pav, but the mixture always turns soft after I add the vinegar.
Pokie brought along some
Lake Louise
Not the usual green christmas crackers that had been sent over from Ireland especially. I won some measuring spoons - a dash, smidgen, and pinch. So, if you ever need to know how much a smidgen is, just ask me.
Christmas dinner was at Sarah's flat.

New year's began with a party at Sarah's flat, with the rest of the Aussies, and Pokie. Pokie left early; the rest of us went to Banff Ave to see the fireworks.
Finished off the night back at Sarah's.
------------
Jason, our token Canadian at work, told me that he was a karate expert, and that he use to fight on his roof with bats covered with barbed wire. Tied of hearing his tall stories I called him on it, and said "lets see you break that porclen plate that's in the damaged goods bin". It was cracked along the radius, so a tap on one side would split it.
He didn't realise I was taking the piss, so suddenly he gets Pokie to hold it, and quick as a flash stabs a punch, brecking the plate and pealing the skin back off three knuckles.
White as a sheet,
Go on!
Sarah tries the ice at Vermilion lake, but wimps out in the end. For the record, it wouldn't have held her. bleeding on the counter, but proclaming that it doesn't hurt, he wandered down to the hospital and got seven stiches.
Pokie's left holding the plate, and I washed my hands of the affair.
Jason managed to get himself fired a few weeks later on unrelated matters. It takes talent to get fired from a dollar store.
---------------
On the sking front - it has been the coldest winter for many years and also one of the best snow seasons.
I tried cross county skiing to Moraine lake in minus 26 degrees conditions, minus 40 with the wind chill, in what became a exercise in pain tolerance. I never knew that being cold could hurt so much.
The boarding has been better, and I haven't broken anything.
No boarding photos though, as I don't have any real boarding buddies.
-----------------
The days are really short, and I think I am lacking in Vitamin D, as I have been sleeping a lot.
Actually, I do know where I am going next..
I will sign off and promptly slide back into the covers..
