in the small dunesAnfangs Oktober hatte ich das erste und einzige Wochenende frei seit Januar 2011... ich war mit ehemaligen Gaesten campieren. Das war ganz witzig, denn die beiden Maedels waren noch nie in ihrem Leben zelten! Feuer machen und Abendessen kochen hab ich uebernommen. Beide haben ganz erstaunt zugeschaut und wollten Informationen warum ich das Holz auftuerme oder wie lange Kartoffel in der Glut sein muessen... war ganz einfach die beiden mit nem leckeren Abendessen zu verwoehnen! Habe gefuellten Fisch & Steak gegrillt und Kartoffeln in der Folie. Als Dessert habe ich ihnen Schoko-Bananen gemacht.
Wir fuhren vom Resort nach Dibbah an der Ostkueste, direkt an der Grenze zum Oman. Urspruenglich war ja eigentlich ein 3 taegiger Dhau trip geplant mit Freunden von ihnen, aber das Wetter war angeblich noch zu heiss dafuer. Von Dibbah fuhren wir das der Kueste entlang suedlich und haben unser Zelt dort direkt am Strand aufgestellt. Hier kann man ueberall zelten ohne Erlaubnis einzuholen. Wir waren die Einzigen, es war wunderbar! Aber leider nur ne Stunde oder so, dann kamen 8 jetskis di kueste rauf und runtergeduest und haben alle voegel weggejagt. nach sonnenuntergang kamen dann einige Einheimische an den Strand mit Kind und Kegel... da war

east coast of the UAE - first camping trip es dann fertig mit wunderbar! Die Emiratis haben sich dann beschwert wir sollen mit unseren 2 Hunden an einen anderen Ort gehen - obwohl die an der Leine waren. Danach kamen Jungs in ihren dicken Autos am Strand entlang hoch und runter. Einer blieb sogar noch stecken und die mussten ihn abschleppen... wir haben dann um 11 Uhr entschlossen an einen anderen Ort zu fahren. Naaz ging mit dem Auto schauen und fand einen ruhigen Ort. Als wir dort schlussendlich das Zelt aufgeschlagen hatten war es den beiden Maedels fast zu einsam, denn da war sonst niemand. Weit und Breit. Aber es war auch dunkel und nur in der Ferne hatte es Lichter von Gebaeuden. Am naechsten Tag waren wir wirklich die einzigen am Strand. Um 7 Uhr musste ich aus dem Zelt fliehen, da es zu heiss wurde. Die beiden sassen bereits am Strand mit den Hunden.
nun ist bereits herbst und das wetter hier wird endlich angenehm... draussen sitzen ist jetzt moeglich ohne literweise zu schwizen und tagsdurch ist richtig schoen warm und nicht mehr 50 grad heiss! am morgen sieht das zum teil ganz spektakulaer aus!

beautiful beach, but not very pleasant to camp as it gets hot at 6.30am Maha. Am letzten tag kam er noch mit auf ne duenenfahrt... er ist ein absolut angenehmer gast. freundlich und umgaenglich und er hat mich sogar noch erkannt - er war vor einem jahr bereits mal hier. das habe ich ueberhaupt nicht von ihm erwartet, er trifft ja tausende von Leuten!
jetzt bin ich bereits zu hause Die letzten 2 Monate flogen richtiggehend vorbei...
Wir hatten ganz interessante Beobachtungen in der Natur. Geier waren im Dubai Desert Conservation Reserve.
DDCR Mitteilung: War eine aufregende Woche in der Wüste. Seit einiger Zeit sehen wir Ohrengeier, aber am Samstag haben wir 5 Gaensegeier gesehen, welche eine neue Art für die DDCR ist. Erst das 12. Mal, dass sie in den Vereinigten Arabischen Emiraten gesichtet wurden, letztes mal im 2006.
Ging mit Kathryn und Maretha ins Falcon Heritage Center, gingen in die Stadt die Springbrunnen beim Burj Khalifa anschauen... dann bereits die letzte Duenenfahrt, das letzte mal Falken fliegen, Kamel reiten.... und die letzten 12 Tage musste ich meine Ueberzeit beziehen und daher war der 18.11. mein letzter Arbeitstag.
Am 20.11. fuhr ich mit einem Mietauto in den Oman, nach Barka welches ca. 100 km noerdlich von

looks stunning, but that was before the jet skis went up and down the beach and before the locals went up and down the beach with their cars... Muskat liegt. Dort ging ich tauchen. Habe es doch noch geschafft im mittleren Osten zu tauchen! Sicht war trueb, aber die Fischschwaerme sind atemberaubend! 3 Uebernachtungen im Al Sawadi Beach Resort und dann gings bereits wieder zurueck um zu packen.
Ne super Abschlussparty am 25.11. und am 30.11. gings dann noch ans Rugby Sevens Turnier. Das wars dann mit den Vereinigten Arabischen Emiraten. Gut das es zu Ende ist. Freue mich auf die Zukunft im südlichen Afrika 😱
In early October, I had the first and only free weekend since January 2011 ... I was camping with former guests. That was quite funny, because the two girls never camped in their lives (well they stayed at Al Maha…)! I volunteered to make the fire and dinner. Both have watched in amazement and they wanted to know how I staple the wood or how long potatoes need to be in the fire ... was very easy to please the two with a delicious dinner! Hade filled grilled fish & steak and potatoes in foil. For dessert, I made them chocolate bananas.
We drove from the resort to Dibba (map) on the east coast, right on the
border with Oman. Originally was a 3-day dhow trip planned with friends of them, but the weather was reportedly still too hot for that. From Dibba we drove along the coast in a southerly direction, and set our tent up somewhere on the beach. Here you can camp anywhere without asking permission. We were the only people there and it was wonderful! But unfortunately, only an hour or so, then 8 came on jet skis up and down the coast and chased all birds away. After sunset some locals with kids came to the beach... then it was done with wonderful! They complained we should go with our 2 dogs to another place - although they were on a leash. Then guys came in their big cars along the beach up and down. One even got stuck and had to get towed out ... We then decided to go to a different location. Naaz went with the car looking for a quiet place and found one. When we had finally pitched the tent it was almost too lonely for the 2, because there was no one else. Far and wide. The next day we were really the only ones on

with DJ Antoine the beach. By 7 clock, I had to flee out of the tent, as it was too hot. The two were already sitting on the beach with the dogs.
Now is already autumn and the weather is finally nice here ... Sitting outside is now possible without sweating liters and is really nice and warm during the day and not 50 degrees hot!
DJ Antoine was mid-October at the Resort. On the last day he joined the dune drive... He is an absolutely pleasant, hospitable, friendly and personable person. He even recognized me - he was at the Resort a year ago. I did not at all expect that from him, he meets thousands of people!

The last 2 months flew by…
We had very interesting nature sightings. Vultures were in the Dubai Desert Conservation Reserve.
DDCR release: Been an exciting week out in the desert. Been seeing the Lappet-faced Vultures, but on Saturday we came across 5 Eurasian Griffon vultures, which is a new species for the DDCR, this is only the 12th time that they have been recorded in the UAE, the last record was in 2006.

Visited with Kathryn and Maretha the Falcon Heritage Center, went to the city watch the fountains at the Burj Khalifa ... then it was already time to fly the falcons for the last time, last dune drive, the last camel ride .... and the last 12 days I had to take my overtime and therefore was 18.11. my last working day.
20.11. I drove with a rental car to Oman, to Barka which is about 100 km north of Muscat. There, I went diving. Visibility was murky, but the school of fishes are stunning! 3 nights in the Al Sawadi Resort and then i went back to pack.
A great farewell party on 25.11. and at the 30.11. we went to the Rugby Sevens tournament. That's it with the United Arab Emirates. Well it's over. I look forward to the future in Southern Africa 😱

Hallo Natali, wir freuen uns immer wieder was von dir zu hören ! Wunderschöne Bilder ..... weißt du schon wann und wohin es wieder nach Afrika geht ? Wir basteln weiter an unserem Toyota - Reise - Landcruiser mit dem es irgendwann weiter weg gehen soll ..... Liebe Grüße die beiden Flieger Peter + Sigi
