driving on the other side...Well I’m nearly two weeks in South Africa and finally I feel like arrived, kind of...
The first 3 days it was pouring down with rain and I didn’t feel like doing anything... luckily there was African Cup of Nations and I watched 2 soccer games a day - was fabulous! But not that I didn’t do anything until now; I was always checking the Internet for cars, chatting with people at home and all over the world, fetched my belongings in Upington (900km away) bought binoculars as my got stolen at Al Maha.
Funny how it is when you are back home in Switzerland for a while and you’re getting used to the environment and the friends around you. You are meeting new people and as well once you weren’t in contact for long time and then you have to leave again... not that I really had to, I know it was my choice to go back to Africa. Now here and in a new (kind of new...) environment again and it feels strange again... This time it was the first time where I felt like: am I really doing the right thing? Well I am getting older

the long way to Upington and maybe I am thinking too much. Let s see what future will bring! Definitively looking forward to Botswana and the guiding up there after reading my “dangerous game Logbook” from 2009 & 10 😊
But first I will go and fetch my car before end of January, then a camping weekend at the Bloemhofdam with Maretha and Kathryn (ex Guides from Al Maha) and only then I will drive up north.

Jetzt bin ich fast 2 Wochen in Suedafrika und endlich fuehle ich mich einigermassen angekommen.
Die ersten Drei Tage hat es in stroemen geregnet und ich hab nicht viel gamacht… zum Glueck war der Afrika Cup und ich habe taeglich zwei Fussballspiele am Fernseher geschaut. Das war wunderbar!
Aber nicht das ich bisher nix gemacht habe; habe immer im Internet nach Autos geschaut, habe mit Leuten ueberall auf der Welt gechattet, habe meine tausend Sachen in Upington (900km entfernt) geholt und habe ein Fernglas gekauft da meines im Al Maha gestohlen wurde.
Ich war ne Weile in der Schweiz und habe mich wieder anklimatisiert mit Umgebung und all den Leuten. Man trifft neue Leute oder

got my books back after 2,5 years !!! kommt wieder in kontakt mit welchen die man schon Jahre nicht mehr gesehen hat und ploetzlich geht man wider…. Ich weiss ich musste ja nicht, es war meine Entscheidung wieder nach Afrika zu gehen.
Nun wider zurueck in Afrika, wieder alles neu und es fuehlt sich wieder fremd an…
Dieses mal war das erste mal wo ich mich fragte ob ich auch die richtige Entscheidung getroffen habe. Aber vielleicht werd ich auch einfach nur aelter und hinterfrage zu viele sachen. Warten wir mal ab wie die naechsten paar Wochen bringen werden!
Ich freue mich definitiv aufs guiden in Botswana, speziell nachdem ich mein Logbuch von 2009 & 10 gelesen habe 😊
Aber zuerst gehe ich mein neues Auto holen, am 1.2. gehe ich mit Maretha & Kathryn (ex Guides von Al Maha) an den Bloemhofdamm zelten und erst danach werde ich in den Norden fahren.
