Arrived into Dubai last night about 1am. They had a little trouble with our (Jen's bag), we waited over an hour for it to arrive. It was the last article of luggage off of the plane. Oh well, the flight over was amazing. It lasted a little over 6 hours. We got to drink whatever and whenever we wanted. He had a four course meal. We chose what movies that we wanted to watch from our own personal TV sets (or Sports events, or World News, or TV, or Video games) imbedded in the seats infront of us. We each watched two movies and read the rest of the way. The flight only felt like one or two hours, it went by so fast.
We arrived, hopped on a bus and went straight to the hotel. We dropped our luggage and went for a 2am stroll on the streets. We found this awesome fruit stand (much like in Chamonix, they have the BEST fruit anyone could possibly ask for) and had fruit drinks. Most of our trip has been walking around Dubai and checking out the sites. Very interesting people here... mostly nice and all speak English. There is so

Burj at Arab - 7 Star Hotel much tourism around that they benefit if they learn the lingo. Helps us a lot.
Day two... So many extraordinary resorts and hotels here. There is a 7 star hotel that you can't really get close to without being registered to stay. Another even more amazing hotel next door with a canal and turtles swimming and a bunch of little private boats that you can rent for an hour. Money is very cheap here $3.66 to their 1 Dharma. We haven't been buying anyting though... we have such a long hike on our next leg that we didn't want to carry anything with us to add to the extra burden. We will wait until we get to Thailand if we want to get anything, it will be our last leg and easier to treck things around.
We fly out tonight/tomorrow morning at 4/26/06 4:45am from Dubai to Delhi (india) airport, tomorrow, we fly Delhi to Kathmandu. We are aware that there is a lot of fighting between the king and the people. Don got us a great deal on some sweet guns to take with us to Kathmandu... so, we'll be alright! There is said to be a

Boat Canal big (the biggest thus far) protest tomorrow while we are there. We will likely stay in the airport and just wait for the next flight out. We are scheduled to fly out of Kathmandu and into Pokhara and Pokhara to Jomsom then hike from there to the Annapurna Base Camp and back to Pokhara. All of these flights will depend on the permittance of tourists. We will keep you posted. We may end up in another country if they can't settle thier arguments and let us through. Think of us and pray that they work it out so that we can continue as planned.
They have great food here in Dubai. We have been eating mostly chicken sandwiches with salads build in them and our favorite fruit smootie drink. Today, for our final dinner, we went to the opposite side of the river to have Lebanese food. It was also very good. They served us a full plate of full fruits and veggies. We were to cut our own lettuce, tomoto, lemon, raddish, zucchini, carrots, peppers, etc, ourselves and make our own salads, Don did all of the work as I watched. It was delicious! Then chicken and french

Madinat Jumeirah Hotel fries and bread... Everything was perfect! Very cheap too! If you ever make it over here, give us a ring, we'll hook you up!
Also, the bus systems are pretty good in Dubai. Our major trecks have started by bus and tons of walking to follow. Very cheap form of transportation. $.35 cents to travel from one side of town to the other. In two days, we have checked everything! All of the major hotels, beaches, shops, vendors, canal, it has been very beautiful. Everyone wants to sell you imitation Rolex watches and bargain cameras. Basically, China Town, only 10 times bigger and longer and crazy, full of people everywhere! This town does not wake up until 9am and sleeps at 2am. The busiest time on the streets is between 10pm and 12am. REDICULOUS!!!
Okay, enjoy the pics. We'll touch bases again as soon as possible. We may not have much computer access until after we get into Thailand and Bangkok in about two weeks. Keep us posed with what's going on back home. (Jen and Don)
