The Matterhorn
Hey guys, sorry that we haven't found a computer lately. We are having a blast!!!
Our flight was perfect. Early takeoffs, no delays, no layover in Atlanta, just boarded onto the next plane. We upgraded to the Emergency Exit seats and had tons of leg room and windows. Easy rental car pick-up. Straight here.

Skied the past three days. Day one: went up the Agui du Mudi, it was spectacular!!! So many steeps and crazy chutes! Went up early and toured around all day. Glaciers and peaks all around. Amazing (Pictures to come). Day two: Beautiful weather and we decided to drive to Switzerland and ski Zermatt. The best day! Out the door at 7am. Huge runs with tons to look at and amazing views. We were above the clouds looking down on the mountains. Took a train also part of the way, the views were nice through the valley. Home late because of the drive/train out there. Back by 10pm, clean up and find some grub. We discovered this amazing little eatery. "Baquette Steak Freit se vu ple". Crazy delicious! That is pretty much the only place we have eaten since we've been here. Day three: Took a bus

Don Stealth (He's Going Backwards!)
(which is right outside our back door) and went to Le Grand Motets. Another amazing ski/snowboard day. There were a few designated runs ("piste"), but mostly off of the runs were the best ("auf piste"). Tons of mogels everywhere you turned and every run (a blast!). Took up the steep lifts to the top, got some great pics of the Chamonix valley and adjacent mountains (soon to come, don't have the cord that connects the computer to the camera with me now). Did some awesome steeps, snow was still winter like and corn snow everywhere else. When we were going down, there was a group of guys with a French guide who we just followed down. They went first, we were close behind (we didn't listen because we couldn't understand what they were saying anyway). When they went down, they all stopped, turned and watched us go down... it was great to show those guys up. Made perfect turns in the steaps, shot up rooster rails (push snow up as you make a turn). They just staired as both of us came down, we were laughing that they paid hundreds of dollars for that guide and we just went to

Switzerland Ski Patrol Dog! We were in safe paws!
have fun! All lifts close at 4:30, we head up on the last lift up and take our time getting down.
Home by 5:30, clean up, laundry, walk around some more. Now, all of the shops are closed and this is the only place open (for one more hour).
Tomorrow, Day four: Go back to Le Grand Montets. Do some more open runs and crazy chutes. I can't believe how steep and awesome the snow is here! I don't know why Heavenly hasn't figured out how to put lifts up to the top of the mountains instead of hiking and traversing. They have it easy here! Not evey too difficult for me (I'm on a snowboard without poles).

Here in Chamonix, the stores are only open in the morning (while people are on the slopes), close from 12-2 (their ski break/long lunch) and all close by 7pm. I don't know how they do business here sometimes. Not as many bakeries/creperies as I had expected. Neither one of us are that into the sweetness anyway, so we just peak our heads in, wave and smile, and then back out. Nice little town. Basically one strip of shops and then two

or three other side streets. Tons of ski rental shops here. Very expensive, we found I think the best one. We shopped for good prices and talked the guy into a 40% discount because of the pace we are staying. Our appartment is right in the middle of the square with a view of the Agui du Mudi (highest, most popular peak to ski down in the Chamonix valley). When the sun hits it first thing in the morning, it is priceless! I can't believe I am in France.

That's the basics for now. There is so much more that I can't wait to share with everyone. We fly out Saturday Afternoon from Zurich, Switzerland to Dubai. Then Dubai off to Kathmandu. We'll touch bases again soon. Jen

Having a wonderful vacation too!!!
Vacationing in Cupertino. Daily walks featuring wide views of the street and surrounding neighborhood. Glad to hear you're having a great time. Hurry home. Until then, I am the Queen basking in sunny California (finally.) Love, Daffy
