We said goodbye to Kathryn before she left for work and tried
(not very well to make it feel just like another day. However we did see Sonny before we left and he was able to take us to Nerang station where we caught the train direct to Brisbane Airport.
After along and tiring 15 hours flying time our spirits were lifted
as we saw the sun rise whilst we were landing at Dubai. After a short taxi ride to Seashell hotel, although it was 8.30 am we were able to check into our room. After a short rest we were determined to make the most of our 2 night stay,so we set out
on foot to explore the city.We were amazed how many people
(mostly men) were around and hardly any shops open. We then
realized that friday is a "holy day" and every so often they would be called to Prayer.
In the evening the place had a different atmosphere about it and much more relaxed with more women and families around, we ate at a lovely chinese restaurant before retiring for a well earned sleep!
Feeling refreshed after a good sleep (and no alchohol the previous night!) we took
goodbye and dubaigoodbye and dubaigoodbye and dubai

at the creek
a taxi to the Gold Souk - we marvelled at the beautiful pieces but if we were tempted to buy anything was rather put off by the pushiness of the shop keepers.
The weather was much too good to be indoors so we wandered down to the Creek and for 1dirham took the water taxi to the other side.
Later on we decided to do the Desert Safari, this trip had come well reccomended by our children so we thought we would try it ourselves. we were not dissapointed! A driver collected us from the hotel and drove us to the edge of the desert, as we waited for the rest of the convoy to join us he let some air out of the tyres of his Toyota then the fun began.... he then drove like a maniac across the desert riding the dunes with such speed that it was like being on a roller coasrer but much more fun! Eventually we arrived at our destination which was a type of camp just in time to see the sun setting over the desert. There was various things to do there, then we had a delicious BBQ meal and

at the creek
was entertained by a Belly Dancing show.
Dubai is a fascinating place to be although there is a lot of construction work going on at present, if we had a stop over again we would probably stay nearer the Jumaliah beach area.

We now conclude our travel blog for this time. We have had some fantastic expriences and have some womderful memories of our three weeks in Australia and Dubai and I know we'll be back in the future for some more.
