Hi again for the next chapter of my blog, Turkey Part Two, although it's now over a month later and I'm actually in Russia. I guess it's better late than never! Thanks again to everyone for comments and emails. I really enjoy hearing from you. The last blog ended at Ephesus so I'll carry on from there as we travel up towards Gallipoli. We visit some more famous historical sites along the way and ... Read Full Entry

Fish anyone?

Last official tour dinner at a very nice seafood restaurant. Lots of different little fish dishes with a variety of sauces for starters then this whole fish for the main. It was delicious.

Still at the restaurant and enjoying the music as the band came round the tables.

My last night in Turkey

Quite a few of us stayed on in Istanbul for a bit extra after the tour. This was my last night there at a restaurant right near the Blue Mosque. It was a great sight to see the Mosque lit at night to farewell Turkey. Thanks for a fantastic tour everyone!
Goodbye OtoGoodbye Oto
Goodbye Oto

Oto was our bus driver for the whole tour. He didn't speak English but still became our friend. Thanks Oto. Note the map hanging in the front of the bus. Gokhan used this throughout the tour to show us where we were.

On the last night before dinner we had a presentation by Doug and Amanda who had worked like mad to put together a DVD of our tour. It was brilliant, thanks guys. We showed our sincere appreciation to Gokhan with this flag...wonder if you use it for your future tours Gok?

Once again fantastic!
This is a fabulous blog as it shows the respect people still have for the people who fought and died for us all. Thank you. Love the group you have been with - they sound like heaps of fun.

After the Camp is Over!
Hi Dee. Just back from Mid Year Camp to your blog on ANZAC Day - really great and I must report ANZAC Day on the North Shore was wet so the service was held in the local Hall - not at all like being on the Browns Bay beach as the sun comes up with the waves breaking on the beach that we usually have. Your are having such an awesome trip and I am THOROUGHLY enjoying your bolgs. The camp was great - most of the usual people there and a great bunch of kids. Looking forward to catching up with you when you get back. Ian AFS.

Magic reading
Hi Dee. Stunning photos! I'm looking forward to the full CD collection when you return. And the Gallipoli trip - everyone who goes there says it is a powerful experience. Your words and pictures made me appreciate that feeling much better than anyone before. Looking forward to some weird Russian stuff...

Great Stuff!
Another amazing blog and super photos. What a fantastic trip you're having. I've heard such wonderful things about Turkey; your comments and photos have strengthened my resolve to get there some day. Philip visited Gallipoli when he did his 'overland' trip back in the 70's but that was in winter; he said it was bleak and bitterly cold. Pity those poor soldiers. Looking forward to hearing about Italy and life in St. Petersburg. Cheers, Susan
