17th May Arriving in Eğirdir early in the morning I slept in my dorm till just before breakfast and spent the day walking around the tiny picturesque town. The statues seen in the niches between the doors are copies of the originals which were taken to Vienna during the years when the library was being excavated. The inscriptions on the bases indicate, the statues symbolized the wisdom (Sophia), Knolwedge (Episteme), Intelligence ( Ennoia) and Virtue (Arete) of Celsus.
