Day 7: We woke up this morning and when I returned from my shower Momma Bear was holding true to her name, she was acting like a mother. She began to clean up my side because it was bothering her how my bed wasn't made. It was kind of cute how she decided that I would prefer it if my bed was made; I really couldn't give to flying piglets if my bed is made or not but it made her feel better. Her reasoning for this random act of kindness was that she was bored.
Moving on, we had the intention of taking three different tours for an all inclusive price of 20 euros. We arrived at the Hagia Sophia and noticed the double decker buses and proceeded to buy tickets; they just happened to be the wrong tickets. The tour company we purchased tickets for was City Sightseeing and we wanted City Windows across the street. So we ended up with one tour for 20 euros; awesome. The tour was so so at best and it didn't even take us to the Asian side like the other tour. So what was supposed to take us all day took
about 45 or 50 minutes.
It didn't end up being all that bad of a mistake.
After giving our passport copies to the tour company (U Can Travel) for our ferry tickets to Rhodes we decided to go to Topkapi Palace which we never made it to. On the way I decided we would walk through the park, which was out of the way, because it had trees and where there are trees there is shade; readers, you should understand by now there is always a method to my madness, it just sometimes gives the impression of being the opposite of common sense. As we walked through the park we notice the Museum of Science and Technology for Islam. Those who know me know exactly what happened next. Two and a half hours later with our minds over saturated with new found knowledge we emerged exhausted from the museum. Now I know how the kids feel after an hour in a classroom with me, although the exhaustion may stem more from boredom than actual learning but now we are just nit picking. It was actually quite enlightening to see Science and Technology (and yes Danette, they did have
a math section) from a different perspective. It was actually one that conceded to the fact that their society isn't the be all and end all when it comes to scientific discoveries unlike the Western biases we currently carry. The museum was very well laid out and there is no way I can cover everything we saw in this blog. I can only say a couple of things. First of all you had two completely different civilizations working on new discoveries and due to a lack of communication they were sometimes working on the same thing, the difference is we care who discovered it first, they don't. Secondly, a quote from the Quran; "...no matter who the knower is their is always a knower who knows more." And finally, yes I am a nerd and I stopped at a Science museum on my vacation and loved every minute of it.
After emerging exhausted we sat in the shade in the park for a couple of hours discussing random crap and losing track of time as tends to happen when Momma Bear and I have conversations. We then had some tea and Baklava and called it a night. We have
to be ready for 630am tomorrow as we are off to see the original city of Troy.
Captain Kirk signing off.

Say Captain! Any chance you could give the photos titles so we know what we're looking at. Lovely pictures - no context. Just sayin'...
