Tuesday and we are in Selcuk. This morning we were in Istanbul. After breakfast and paying the hotel (a more reasonable rate than they quoted over the phone) Ashley found the tea garden with the goldfish where we have been with Hasan in the past. They do nargile and good tea. Then by public transport to the airport. Very pleasant flight to Izmir with THY. It's less than 50 mins in the air but they fed us a decent salad and chicken sandwiches with very good pickles. We got a bus at the airport to the Otogar in Izmir then a dolmus to Selcuk. We thought we had a reservation but we didn't. They still found us a room but it is not our usual one. We had to push beds together.

Went for a stroll and bumped straight into Ali who gave us tea. With bergamot which I do like. He wants to help us find a house. He wants to help us open a bank account. This is all good. Tomorrow we go get a tax number. Still not sure about the bank account. Will find out more tomorrow. Walked round an area with many nice new apartments. Then back to Omeros for showers before wine before dinner. Phoned Ben from St John. He will meet us at Omeros on Thursday at 13:00.

We did see one of the apartments that looked good on line. It looks good. But is right on the main road - so fabulous views, plenty of interest to watch but noisy and they are obviously building a lot more similar blocks around it so it will be in the middle of a building site for quite some time.

Dinner was, as ever, excellent. Tomato soup then cauliflower, okra, koftas and some kind of pilav. I don't normally like cauliflower or okra much but it was delicious. Melon, watermelon and birthday cake followed. Then we came out for beer. Turkey are playing in the Champions league so I'm glad I bought out the computer. I did find an open connection long enough to look up the address of Selcuk Emlak and glance at email but I couldn't pick up Facebook or the travel blog.

Down to the last blob of battery now so about to log off....
