Yeah, This Is The Life
St. Nicholas Island, Our first night stop. Up early for my 4 day cruise around the coast of Turkey. I walked down to the Olympos yachting office and waited with some others to walk down to the harbour to board our boat. Our captain came into the office with a bandana, a gold ringed earring and a missing hand, all that was missing was a parrot on his shoulder. Thinking he could be joking about the missing hand, he wasn't.
We walked down to his Gulet
Mr Hook I and net up with the other people on board. There was 17 plus 4 crew on board. 6 Australian, 2 Czechs, 2 New Zealanders, 2 Spanish, 2 Turkish, 1 Brazilian, 1 American and 1 English of course!
Captain Hook was a little sleazy. He always wanted to be the centre of attention and spent every waking hour perving over the girls. I spent the 4 days on board pretty much avoiding him.
First stop was Oludeniz, for a bit of swimming. I was the first to jump in. I was quickly back on board again as Captain Hook had parked the boat wonky. Once properly parked, everyone was in the cool, blue and very clear sea.

The Other Side Of The Boat
Another Night, Another sunset. on board for a bit of lunch and onward to St. Nicholas Island, this was our first night stop. The sea was quite choppy on the way there and it looked like everyone was a little green in the face, especially the Spanish girl. The Spanish couple decided to leave at the island as 4 days on a yacht rocking non stop is a little tough if you can't hold on to your lunch.
Where we parked was spot on. Perfect for a spot of swimming and snorkeling, shame the fish were only about a inch long. Dinnertime and a few beers. I didn't feel too good so I found a few beanbags and kipped for a couple of hours, then I went to the front of the yacht and slept under the stars.
We were woken up around 5am by some really choppy waves, so the captain decided to move the yacht around to the other side of the island. We found out later that there was a tremor under the sea between Greece and Turkey. Back to sleep for a few more hours and up for breakfast at 8am ready for a 5 hour non-stop run
On The Move
How blue is that sea?! to our next destination, Kas. The captain decided to repeat "Wish you were here" by Pink Floyd pretty much for the whole trip. The sea was still quite choppy all the way and we didn't actually get to Kas that day due to the rough seas. We stayed in a calm cove for the night near Kas, but still too far to swim or get a boat taxi to the town. So we decided to get used to our surroundings for the next nights swimming and drinking.
After dinner it was time for some good drinking games with the boys on board. The American guy Ted came up with some really good ones. Another night on the deck for a alcohol infected sleep.
Our last full day on the boat and it was a early start once again, on to a small fishing village to stock up on water and other western necessities. And then onto another picturesque town on the coast with a castle. Loads of swimming and general mucking about before lunch. Them on to a cave which was like a Triathlon start as we had to swim 100 meters or so to the actual cave
Lunch Is About To Be Served
J.T will be boiling pasta as I snap as the yacht was not allowed close, check it out and avoid falling rocks! and then a swim back on board.
Then we was on to our big stop, The Sumgglers Inn! For a last night drink and party. The music was cheesy like stilton but the beer was cold. Shame everyone sang happy birthday to me at midnight. I was slightly embarrassed but that soon went away as I was treated to a cocktail or two. I decided to treat my fellow shipmates with a drink each, which was pricey, but still cheaper than a pub back home, no doubt. I tried to get the DJ to play some tunes but it seemed that he has the same playlist every night. I made up with my disappointment of no S Club 7 ands sung some footy songs on the Taxi boat back to the yacht.
Next morning during another big breakfast, I opened up some cards that I brought with me and drank some tea to try and kill my headache from a few hours before. A short trip to our port and then off to the treehouses of Olympos.
The yacht cruise was the best
part of my trip so far. We had a good mix of people on board. Plus I learnt how to play backgammon, which might come in handy for the next few weeks! And if I hear "Wish you were here" one more time whilst in Turkey. I think will decide to walk the plank.
