Shopping for Computer Cables in Khobar We need a bunch of computer cables for the SAC center including a printer cable, network cables, and some spare mice (mouses?). My idea was for Minneapolis to ship this stuff to me. Their idea was to buy it here. Sure, just tell me what Radio Shack is in Arabic. And I’m pretty sure Mapquest won’t work. Since Glyn had not yet been to Khobar, he wanted to go too. I can’t believe that I seem to know my way around Khobar. I caught myself saying “down this street is the Indian section and markets. Over there are some restaurants. The main street is this way.” I took my camera, but I’m still really cautious about taking photos that have people in them. Dinner in Khobar Tonight I had dinner in Khobar with a friend I met who is from Bangladesh. He is a professor at the local university and has been in Saudi for about four months now. We ate at a Thai restaurant that was excellent. I was not brave enough to order from the spicy food part of the menu, but perhaps next time. The shrimp soup was really fantastic, but I’m not sure they deliver to Minneapolis. Bummer. It was fun to talk to Manir, whose English is better than mine. We discussed our jobs, families, and experiences in Khobar. His wife and family are still back in Bangladesh, but will hopefully be joining him soon.
