Dear beloved friends,

>I remember clearly the sound of a Jordanian artillery shell that landed
>next to my elementary school in Jerusalem, during the first few hours
>of the 6-days-war. I remember the sound and rumble and the vibration in
>my belly. I do not remember being afraid at the time, or understanding
>fear, but writing this now, some 40 years later, my eyes are watering.
>I remember vividly the crater this bomb carved out in the street and
>the 3/4 car that was left protruding from its edge. It was our gym
>teacher's car and the general consent among my classmates was that it
>served him right. He was an asshole.

>Last week I crossed the border from Israel to Jordan, for the first
>time, on a mini bus ride to Amman airport, on the way to India.
>I gotta tell you guys - the smiling faces of the late King Hussein and
>his son the currant King Hubdullah are a very welcoming sight on many
>available spots on walls and billboards. Their personal vanity aside,
>they both had/have very loving smiles or some great photographers. I'd
>rather argue this point then exchange artillery shells with them in an
>endless and pointless war.
>Come on guys.... there is room for everyone.(I hope i do not sound like
>Rodney King) What people in the Middle East keep forcing into their
>narrow minds is that there are "holy spots".
>But these can be moved, shift, relocate- physically or in the
>entrenched belief system.(Shocked?)
>This planet has been spinning effortlessly for 4.5 billion years, give
>or take a week, and only in the last 4000 years or so (measly a blip in
>comparison time) people learned to identify parts of it as "theirs" and
>belong to "their" family, "their" tribe, "their" country....even worse
>then that are spots that belongs to "their" religion or "their" God,
>and what more - they are willing to kill and get killed protecting
>theses arbitrary small portions of this planet.
>How funny do you think this looks to Planet Earth itself? To God for
>that matter if you believe the fact that he/she is Almighty and can
>actually make more.
>
>And the Falafel?

Looking over the Israeli border
We asked the driver to stop on the way to the airport
>for falafel. He was so accommodating to his guests from Israel, the old
>enemy, that he drove extra 50 kilometers to find a special falafel
>restaurant for us. 50 kilometers that almost made us miss our flights
>-a small detail that nearly proved itself costly.
>The falafel was excellent - the Jordanians over-load their falafel mix
>with chopped parsley and it is delightful.
>But.
>Sure there is a but - they smash the freshly fried falafel balls into
>the pita and clearly destroy the crunchy first part of the bite.
>What do they think - this is baby food? Gerber Falafel-formula for the
>newly born Jihadist?
>Forget what i said before. We should attack them, move our holly forces
>and conquer them and bring the truth to their infidel-falafel
>misconduct.
>
>Holy Falafel Wars.. that's it. Shoot kill..kill.. kill...
>(who wants to play "The Decider" ?))

>My dear Friend Mika, who happened to be Finn (that means he used to be
>a Native in Finland) and we are not going to hold it against him,
>learned from a Navajo chief in a Native American reservation in Arizona
>this wonderful line:
>"Do not travel any faster then your Angel can fly"
>
>I like it, and Mika, what if your Angel just got a Nimbus-2000? (see
>the scriptures - Harry Potter 3:28)
