We hired a car in Petra to take us to Dana, where we stayed in a 15th century crumbling stone village which is perched up on a precipice that overlooks the amazing Wadi Dana valley. We stayed in the Dana Tower hotel, which was the tallest building in town at 3 stories and it was probably 300 or 400 years old...

We spent both of our days here hiking in the Dana Nature Reserve. Our first day hike took us down an extremely steep switchbacking road, and quite a ways (~10km) down into the Dana Valley. After stopping for tea with a few Bedouin shephards, we began to challenging 10km and 1000m high climb back up out of the valley. During our second day, we shuttled to the Rummana campground and did a few short hikes through some beautiful mountain meadows and scrambling up into some interesting cave sites. After the grueling past 6 days of hiking at Wadi Rum, Petra and Dana, we decided we needed some R&R at the Dead Sea on our way north to Madaba...
