What I'm doing: I will be working for the McGill Middle East Program in
Civil Society and Peacebuilding (MMEP) as an intern at the JCAN Centre in Al Tur, Jersualem. The
JCAN Centre is a partner organization of MMEP, and MMEP is a
non-political, social work organization that works in cooperation with
its Israeli, Jordanian and Palestinian institutional partners to
promote the rule of law, equity, peace and civil society among
disadvantaged communities. The program places great emphasis on the
empowerment of children, youth and women.

I will assist with office tasks, teach English to children
in the community, help write English-language content for the JCAN
website, and travel to other partner organizations in Israel in order
to write a newsletter about MMEP partners' successes and activities in
their home communities. The newsletter will be shared between those
centres and with the home office in Montreal.

I land in Tel Aviv at 5:20am on Wednesday June 9th, and leave tonight (June 7th)! Wish me luck with the 16 hour layover in London... and with everything!
