Mount Damaavand Peak view from the airplaneMount Damaavand Peak view from the airplaneMount Damaavand Peak view from the airplane

A view of Mount Damavank Peak in the Alborz range; on my flight from Tajikistan to Tehran. She stands at 18600 feet (5678 m) and remains snow caped most of the year.
I arrived in Tehran a couple of days ago.

I got settled in my apartment located on Northern side of Tehran. In my wandering around so far I find Tehran to be calm and the traffic flowing smoothly. The parks are beautifully landscaped and are being enjoyed by a lot of people for promenade and exercising. There are traffic cameras installed everywhere to control and assure the motorist's orderly driving, and it is very effective. The usual air pollution in Tehran has somewhat improved since the last time I was here. I believe it is mostly due to using a better quality of gasoline imported by the government. The weather is nice and crisp after the heavy rainfall of a few days ago.

Of course we know there are places within this 12 million population city that life and lifestyle has a different colors. Life in this Northern and rich part of Tehran is astonishingly different from the poverty stricken rest of the city which I will visit and report soon.

Iran’s largest Pedestrian Bridge Inaugurates in Tehran

The opening ceremony of the Iran’s largest and the amazing pedestrian bridge called “Tabiat Bridge” (Nature Bridge) was held in Tehran. This structure is quite impressive. The over 2,000-Ton Structure for the three-level pedestrian bridge was completed in less than two years.

Tabiat Bridge, linking two beautiful Ab-o-Atash ( آب و آتش ) and Taleghani (طالقانی ) parks. This unique structure is designed by Leila Araghian, an Iranian architect and her team of engineers. The design of this three-level pedestrian bridge is inspired by ancient Iranian architecture in which, bridge was not just a crossing path, linking 2 sides of a river or valley, but It was a place of promenade and to relax and enjoy beautiful views. There are nice coffee shops and snack bars on the 3rd level. Sorry, no beer! See more photos
