I awoke to the subtle notes of a classical ensemble...it seems one of the staffers here is fixing something in our hallway. It's nice ... a relaxing quiet moment as we're cozy under our quilt in the Raven's Wing. When I found this apartment complex, it wasn't listed as anything special, no Eco-tourism wonder, just a 1700s abbey that has been made into self catering flats. I've marveled at this complex! It's very Eco-friendly...(yes roll your eyes some of you) America is certainly behind the times on this one! It's not cool or uncool, or hippy, it just is because it's necessary or the right thing to do...oh the waste of the western giant) every electrical outlet has an on/off switch, there is a pad of switches built right out for display in the kitchen to turn power on/off for your appliances...example, when we want hot water, we turn the switch and within a couple of short minutes the hot water is ready for our shower or baths. It's just genius and not something we see much of from America. All outlets and ports each have an on/off supply located immediately beside the port. The apartment's heat has a switch and

also can be put on a timer (with the ease of the kitchen panel) to get a chill off and has a temperature setting as well. No excess here. The lights are also connected to timers so lights are not needlessly left on for hours at a time. (As a parent, I marvel at this system and the money it must save!)

When we shopped, we bought more than my reuseable bag could carry. (Yes, I brought along my own shopping bag like I do at home and found to be among everyone here that does it! NOT having a bag is very frowned upon and viewed as careless. ?Plastic bags cost you if you need them and are more money than a reusable bag? Yes! and at a bargain .15 pence! That's the way it ought to be...responsible consumerism?

Soon, we will both be up for the day...I just had to get this down. Very interesting! At the end of our Scotland adventure, we will be turning this blog into a book for our memoires so this isn't only for you dear reader, but us as well. ?
