Holocaust memorial
We really enjoyed the tour this morning. The company runs free tours and at the end you pay how much you think it is worth! What a great concept, most European cities have these tours now.

We both really enjoyed this tour, our guide was fantastic. He was an ex Londoner with a big booming voice and a great passion for Berlin.

We heard all the early history of Berlin and then all about the war years.

We saw a memorial for the 6 million Jews that were murdered, very confronting.

And around the corner (where there is now a small car park above the bunker) we saw where Hitler was temporarily buried after he did himself in.

Berlin is a very interesting city and there is still so much evidence from the war years. It is so much a part of our recent history.

We are going back tomorrow to see a bit of the wall again and the nearby museum that has the history of the wall.

A very interesting day......
