The trouble with writing something like this blog several days after the event, when more new and exciting events are taking place, is that you're inclined to forget things. Now Helen would contend that this is not an unusual occurrence for me, but no less a personage than Robert Louis Stevenson also had this problem concerning forgetting pertinent details, which he referred to in his book 'essays of travel', so I'm in good company!

The bit I got wrong about yesterday's events (actually four days ago if you're keeping up, longer if you only find this blog in 2022!), is that Amelia and Gareth didn't arrive from Oxford until the late evening, by which time the family get-together for an early celebration of Anna's impending 18th birthday was in full swing. Jane's brother, Andrew, his wife Corena (apologies if I spelled that wrong) and their children Connor and Charlotte, together with a friend, joined us for an indoor barbeque and games, which made for a memorable evening.
