I confess ... by the third weekend in a row going out and doing stuff, you're excited, but perhaps that excitement is slightly tempered by how damn tired you are! Come Friday of the long weekend I wasn't as buzzed as I'd been the previous 2 weekends as all I wanted to do was sleep the entire weekend away, but instead I was jumping in a mini-bus for a trip to Pembroke in Wales for a weekend of walking, horseriding and quadbiking. Wouldn't have not gone for the world, but 2 weeks down the track ... I'm still tired. Long weekend Friday, expecting chaos on the roads and a nice slow trip, but didn't expect minimal traffic (we left more than an hour late) or the slowness of the trip to be down to the driver ... read more

We couldn't have asked for a better day weather-wise for our coach tour to Portmierion and Porthmadog. I had heard of the former as they make world-famous pottery but not the latter (apparently the birth place of actor Anthony Hopkins. If it is not, then when he reads this he can let me know!). The journey to Portmierion was absolutely beautiful. We went through a few small towns and through the slate caverns several miles from Portmierion. Up either side of the roadway rose steep sides made entirely from dark grey/black slate and jutting out as if in many layers. It was a very unusual sight. The road was windy but scenic with lots of cottages, farmhouses, streams and waterfalls gracing the countryside. Coming into Portmierion itself was exciting as we approached the entrance gates. The ... read more

6th August We are now in Ireland and what a beautiful place this is. The boys are extremely happy. Paddy takes us on adventures to the beach - swimming and gathering kaimoana. When we come home Barbara has the table laden with food. Shepherd Pie, tomato soup, sausages, jam tarts, treacle tarts, roast chicken with all the trimmings and don’t forget the mussels says Blake. They’re at a gaelic football training at the moment. Paddy and Barbara are down the road trying to get the escaped donkeys home. Since our last blob we have spent more time in Scotland, travelled to Northern Ireland, broken down and then moved to Sligo, Ireland. We stayed with Colin and Mags in Peebles and had a fantastic time. Our first day was spent playing in a stream catching fish. The ... read more

Hello everyone, yes I am still alive and yes I'm still cycling (well not right at this very moment, that really would take multi-tasking to a new level!) Day 7, Saturday 9th August: Saltford to Cardiff 88.69 miles 10.5mph 8 hours 24 mins cycling time So, where did I leave you last? Oh yes, well the tummy is behaving itself again, just goes to show the stress I'm putting my body under though (bring on the sympathy). A night at home helped no end although didn't enjoy the early start to get back to Saltford again, as I'm sure Dad didn't either. We cycled together along the Bath to Bristol railway path for a couple of miles before I decided I needed to up the pace and shot off ahead. I don't know what it was ... read more

I got back to London last night after probably one of the best weekends of my life in terms of outdoor adventure and scenery. Rachel, Jordan, Jackie, and I went hiking, surfing, and coasteering. According to dictionary.com, coasteering is a physical activity that encompasses movement along the intertidal zone of a rocky coastline on foot or by swimming, without the aid of boats, surf boards or other craft and may include Climbing, scrambling, sea level traversing, jumping and diving. And yes, it did include all of those. We took a bus to Pembrokeshire, which is in the southwestern part of Wales, along the coast. We did all of these activities through Perseli Venture. The trip included our lodging at Perseli, homecooked food (yay!), transport from and to the bus station in Haverfordwest, and our three sessions. ... read more

It was a cold long weekend and all we wanted was to see the Cheese Rolling Competition, so we decided to go to Wales for the weekend and on the way back stop in Gloucesteshire, where the competition happens every year. Wales is a beautiful country with it's beaches and quirky little villages and we had a great time. It was very interesting, to say the least, to go horse riding on the beach. The horses were old and had a big lack of motivation and when we were told to take the horses into the water the poor things really didn't feel like being wet. When we arrived at the Cheese rolling competition they had run out of cheese so Ant didn't feel it was worth to compete for no prize. It was a really ... read more

I know it has been a long time since I've updated, but as of TODAY I am officially finished with school for the semester. Now that I'm done with all of my final papers and don't want to leave my room since it's raining (big surprise), I finally have a little bit of time to share what I've been up to in the past few months. This trip to Wales was the first trip I took after getting settled in London, It's taken so long to write a blog entry about it because I've been waiting for the photos from an underwater camera to get developed. A group of newly aquainted friends and I were offered a special deal to attend the "Preseli Venture' outdoor high adventure camp, and went on a weekend long trip ... read more
