In my visit to Edinburgh I discovered plenty of opportunities for taking some great photos that will bring back memories of my time spent in this city!
Edinburgh is the capital of Scotland and not surprisingly attracts very many tourists. Besides finding plenty to do and see there, visitors to Edinburgh will discover plenty of opportunities for taking some
really great photos that will bring back memories of their time spent in this Scottish city. My favorite 7:
No1: Arthur’s Seat in Holyrood Park Arthur’s Seat should be top of your list of photographic locations in Edinburgh because this now dormant volcanic peak looks right out over the city below and gives some fantastic views of this part of Scotland.
No2: Ruins of St Anthony’s Chapel in Holyrood Park Situated in Holyrood Park and just a short walk from the centre of Edinburgh, Arthur’s Seat at 251 m above sea level is well worth climbing. It boasts an ancient hill fort, and due to its flora and geology it is also a site of Special Scientific Interest.
Holyrood Park is also known as Queen’s Park and is home to the ruins of St Anthony’s Chapel, which stands dramatically overlooking
St Margaret’s Loch.
No3: Edinburgh Castle Edinburgh Castle is another “must-see” photographic location in Edinburgh. Dominating skyline views over the city and standing on the Castle Rock, this historic fortress is the most-visited paid tourist attraction in Scotland.
No4: St Margaret’s Chapel St Margaret’s Chapel is the oldest building within the castle and in Edinburgh. One of the few surviving 12th-century structures in any Scottish castle it is still used for religious ceremonies including weddings.
No5: Mons Meg The 15th-century siege gun or medieval bombard known as Mons Meg is displayed on a terrace in front of the chapel and is another attraction to be seen in the grounds of Edinburgh Castle.
No6: National Museum of Scotland The
National Museum of Scotland should be on your list of places to see in Edinburgh and is actually one of the Top 10 UK visitor attractions.
It is also one of the most-visited museums in the world and is a wonderful place to find out about the history of Scotland. It also has many exhibits from the natural world, as well as displays about science and technology.
No7: Historic Buildings in Edinburgh Edinburgh bus tours are a good way
of seeing Scotland’s capital and its astonishing buildings. Lucky enough, plenty of these buildings are
hotels nowadays. The Balmoral Hotel for example. Scotland’s capital has plenty of hotels with impressive architectural features. The Balmoral’s clocktower make great subject matter for photographers or can serve as a reminder of the past.
If you fancy escaping from the bustle of the city though, you can relax amongst the flower-beds, statues and monuments of the park known as Princes Street Gardens.
