Well this reminded us a lot of NZ. We took this picture by the entrance to Ben A'an.
Hi everyone! Well well......you must have been wondering what had happened to us huh? I guess that we've been lazy. That's it, won't make up any other excuses for not updating you guys. But I finally got down to it and here's what we've been up to.

Firstly, when was our last blog update? probably in April sometime I think...anyway, where have we been? what have we been up to?

Well, We went to Scotland in May for a long weekend. There's direct flights from Bournemouth to Glasgow through Ryanair. We met up with Maureen (for those of you who don't know, I used to work with Maureen at Waikato Hospital). It was nice of her to pick us up from the airport. And well, what better way to see the place then through a local? We drove to Loch Lomond & the Trossochs.....boy it was beautiful! All the scenery....reminded us a lot of NZ...except I think its much colder up here. Maureen took us up Ben A'an (FYI: Ben means mountain and Loch mean lake). It was a refreshing climb up the mountain and the view was beautiful despite the wind and occasional drizzle. After a rest from

Climbing up Ben A'an
all the hard work done climbing the mountain, we went out for a beautiful dinner where we tasted the tradition Scottish dish....haggis! and had it with oatcakes....it was pretty good.

Then, we made a day trop to Edinburgh (which was about an hour on the bus from Glasgow). Edinburgh is beautiful! I loved the stone buildings and how the city was built in two parts, the Old Town and New Town. We went on a 3 hours city bike tour. It was awesome! The local guide took us up to Calton Hill where one gets a 360 degrees view of Edinburgh. He took us to the various historical sites and gave us a bit of a history lesson of Edinburgh. I think we never thought that a bike tour would have been that fun but now that we've been to one we'll definitely take the opportunity to do another bike tour along our travels.

Okay, that's it for Scotland. Three days was a bit short. Scotland has so much to offer and we would love to go back there again.
