Willy stayed at Ewan and Marieke's to cat/house sit while they were on holiday.
Ronnie and Gordon, the plumbers, arrived on the Tuesday and by Thursday we had working toilets and with the co-operation of Douglas, our electrician, hot water - including a bath!
I came up on Thursday evening, having left Edinburgh at 1pm: it takes a while to get to Killin by public transport.
In celebration of the new bath, we both had a candlelit bath.... how romantic. The candles were the only source of light in the bathroom, though it is possible that by now electricity will have reached the first floor.
The reclaimed jarrah kitchen floor had started to be laid and it was suddenly possible to imagine how the kitchen will look when it's finished.
Over the next few days Willy removed the ancient varnish with nitromors and sanded it gently. The pictures really show how much of a difference it made.
On Saturday my brother Graham arrived along with his family. In the morning and late afternoon, Willy did floors and I limewashed the upstairs ceilings and myself in equal measures and in the middle of the day we went
My first bath in the new house
Despitre being a bit chilly on getting out it was brilliant out to play beside the loch

It was however spectacular despite the sudden change in temperature with the weather lurching back to almost winter. We then went to the Crannog Centre and spent an interesting and informative couple of hours learning about the iron age inhabitants of this part of the world. The trip
Luxury Bath
The bathroom lacks some of the refinements of luxury... tiles, paint, curtains, a soap dish and heat, but the bath's fantastic. Did you know it costs about £15.00 for a bath plug and chain ... and if you're rich and stylish you can easily pay more than £50.edit delete was rounded off by a drive back round the south side of the loch passing Acharn where we had our wedding reception and where we saw red squirrels crossing the road.
After dinner Tober accompanied along to the Lawers Hotel for a quiet drink (or several as it turned out).
On Weds Willy helped Yvonne and her mum find a spot to bury the ashes of Yvonne's dad whose family came from the Loch Tay area. Having finished cleaning the flooring we left Keith to continue laying it and headed down the road in the afternoon.
And back to work in the metropolis for me.
Next week, there will be doors to hang and kitchen units to fit and more limewashing.
