kind of a side view, with the lawn. this is probably the best you'll get, i wasn't even suppose to be where i was standing. i just pretended i didn't see the "Don't Proceed This Point" signs. :)
Alrighty I've got four really cool things to tell you about today so hold onto your seats.

1) The first thing we did today *drumroll please* was we visited The Elephant House Cafe, where JK ROWLING SAT AND WROTE PARTS OF THE FIRST HARRY POTTER BOOK!!!!!!! yeah! i think it's where she thought of the idea, too! its just SO COOL! and i sat there and wrote y'all postcards! from that cafe! ahh i can't get over it! and wait, there's more...

2) The second thing we did, also Harry Potter related, was we looked at the outside of the George Harriot School for the Deaf. That's the building that JK Rowling based Hogwarts on, in the very beginning. It looks nothing like the castle in the movie, in fact it's hardly a castle. It's not even that big. But it was still AWESOME to stand where JK Rowling probably stood and look up at her inspiration for Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Ok I sound like the biggest dork right now, I realize that. I bet Morgan appreciates this, don't cha Morgan?? 😊

3) This was my mom's favorite thing that we did. Ok so

me writing a postcard to Morgan! *squeak of excitement*
there's this dog statue beside Greyfriars Bobby Pub. There's a church (known as a 'kirk' here. that's what they call churches) behind it with a cemetery. This dog, the one in the statue, went to his master's grave EVERY DAY for fourteen years and sat there, mourning. fourteen years! every day! he would go back to the pub for food, and probably during nasty weather, but that was probably the most loyal dog i've ever heard of. So we visited that 'kirk' and the grave and the dog's grave and the pub and the statue. Check the pictures.

4) We all really enjoyed this. After dinner, we took a tour of Mary King's Close. A 'close' is kind of like an alleyway with houses lining it. But they built over the close in the mid-1700's and most everyone forgot about it. It was recently rediscovered and furnished for the public to visit. Only certain parts of it are stable, though, and those are the parts we toured. It was really great! We took a staircase underground and it smelled really bad which I expected because they didn't have plumming back then, they just threw all their sewage into the

streets. (GROSSSS!!!) So, it smelled but it was awesome to walk where people walked in the 1600's and everything. Life was very ghastly back then, be thankful. I know I am. Unfortunetley we weren't allowed to take pictures under there. So I guess y'all will just have to come to Edinburgh yourselves to see it. Sorry!

So, that was our second day here in Edinburgh! Oh, and does anyone have Kelsey Williams' address or Katherine Ash's address? Could they please message them to us? Many thanks!

I can't believe that that dog came and sat by that grave for 14 years....thats crazy....he must of really like his owner person. (now i am commenting on your traveling day) It was really funny how concentrated your dad looked when he was driving...i can't blame him! It must of been very confusing and stressful having the steering wheel be on the right side AND having all thoughs delays with the rain and such....well i'm glad yall made it safetly!! miss you lots!! love, Joy

It's the day I've been hoping for!! I can't get over the fact that you went to the SAME cafe that J. K. Rowling wrote part of the first book, it just baffles me. I'm speechless!! I can't even begin to understand how someone could just make up all of this, she probably spent a lot of time thinking there because when she was writing the first book she already had many of her secrets figured out about the proceeding books. I am in awe that you got to visit it, did it have some sort of plaque? That would be cool. Anyways, the loyal dog sounds so cute! I wish Jack was that loyal! That is one of the sweetest stories I have ever heard! Ahh, I still can't believe that J. K. Rowling just thought of Harry Potter and you all got to go to that place of thinking! I am super jealous :) Have a great day tomorrow!

Fun in the UK....
Emma, the Baughman's are enjoying your blog tremndously. We all laughed at the Caroline stories on Day 1-3 (airport, tube, coke etc...). Sorry Caroline..but, you have to admit, they WERE funny. Mimi, Joy and Matthew all say hi. You guys think you've seen rain...??? well, after all the rain we've had back home in the heart of Tejas....last night (wed J 26) Marble Falls recorded 19inches of rain over night!!!!....bad / bad flooding...our lake house survived -- thankfully! Anyway...keep on blogging...and get a pic of your dad having some fun....!! Pls tell your mom that he looks too stressed and that Bob thinks he needs some time off from his busy 'tour guide' duties. Hugs to all... B
