This is me, Finnigan!
September 9, 2007
Hello Boys and Girls. My name is Finnigan. I am a dog that used to live in Eugene, Oregon. Now I live in Glasgow, Scotland. I live with my owner Camille who is two years old. In order to move here Camille and I had to fly on an airplane. First we flew all the way across the United States to NewYork where we visited Camille’s Grandparents. After our visit we got on another big airplane and flew across the Atlantic Ocean to Glasgow, Scotland. Some things about Scotland are just like Eugene, but some things are very different. For instance we do not have a clothes dryer here. We have to hang all of our clothes outside to dry. That is tricky here because it rains a lot, even in the summer. Our refrigerator is also very small compared to the one in Eugene. When you weigh yourself on the scale it does not tell you how many pounds you weigh. Instead the scale tells you how many stones you weigh. Camille weighs about 1 ½ stones. Also they call things by different names. A baby stroller is called a pram. The trunk of the car is

called the boot. A playground slide is called a shoot. Lakes are called Lochs. There are many Lochs and hills in Scotland. It is a beautiful place. There are also many old castles! I ate my first Scottish breakfast last week. It was eggs, black pudding, bacon, sausage, fruit pudding, and haggis. Haggis is sheep’s intestines mixed with oatmeal. I am looking forward to hearing about all of you. Please tell your teacher if you have questions you want to ask me.
Take Care,
Finnigan

Dear Camille and Finnegan, Thank you for the note and the pictures. Scotland sure does sound like an interesting place. Right now we are at school. The breakfast in Scotland looks pretty good to us. We eat breakfast here at our school. We usually have cereal and bagels. We liked the pictures of the castle. Do kings and queens still live in castles in Scotland? We are really excited to get to know you and learn about Scotland this year. Write back soon! From, D4 Kinders
