So here I am in Oban, a small little town with not a whole lot to do but still cute as hell. Despite the mass tourism in Scotland, I really like the way it's able to just soak it up so you still feel like you're discovering a small little town where the traditional ways of life still prevail. Nice.
Yesterday was a day of bludging and not much else, which is actually kind of good after days of hot-footing it from one attraction to the next. Lazily walked up to the ruins of Dunollie Castle, and up to McCaig's Folly at the top of the hill. I've only taken about a million photos of Oban harbour, because I just can't get over how quaint and pretty it is. Fish and chips for dinner, because it's just one of THOSE kinds of towns. And I'm staying in an awesome little hostel where the people are super friendly. A glass of wine, comfy couches and good conversation, what more do you need?
But today I headed out to the Isle of Mull, which is actually pretty miraculous given I only made it onboard the CalMac ferry with about 30 seconds

in honour of the highland games to spare. Literally. Sadly it was a cold and rainy day as I set out towards Craignure, Mull's main port town. You could hardly make out the water through the mist, and I was already choking on the £7.00 ferry fare to get out to Mull in the first place. But finally we made it over with the sun shining ever so briefly for the faint echo of a rainbow to show up over the port. Another £7.00 for a bus ride out to Tobermory - a quaint little village famous for it's brightly coloured waterfront houses and apparently also for being the scene of some british children's BBC show 'Ballomory'.
The town was nice, but in the rain there wasn't a whole lot to do except wander up and down the one main street and duck into a couple of shops every now and then. Isle of Mull is talked up a lot - perhaps I'd have liked it better on a sunnier day and with more time to explore the island - as it was, I was pretty happy to head back to Oban with it's cute little bay and seafood dinners. Can't go wrong with that,
