After 24 hours in planes and 3 hours on trains, we finally arrived in St Bees. A quaint seaside town, with 3 pubs and a deli. We met up with David & Kym, & headed to the Irish Sea, to select our stone that we would transport the Atlantic Ocean on the East coast, as tradition dictates.
But today, we started a new tradition, starting the C2C with a swim in the Irish Sea, which naturally needs a swim at Robin Hood's Bay, at the end. The locals are are little difficult to convince, called us bonkers and took photos. And then we were off. Up and around the headland, through Moor Row and Cleator, Blackhow Wood and up Dent Hill(350m) and then down the other side, which is about the steepest part of the whole trail. It was then a pleasant walk along a stream, to Ennerdale Bridge. Pub meal in the Fox & Hound, with fellow C2C's.
26.4km.
