A bit of history

The Festival of Speed is the largest motoring garden party in the world - a unique summer weekend that brings together an impossibly heady mix of cars, stars and motor sport ‘royalty’ to create the largest car culture event in the world. Held in the immaculate grounds of Goodwood House, this annual hill-climb event is a true celebration of motor sport and all things automotive.
From current Formula 1 racers and 200mph supercars to steam-powered carriages of the 19th Century, and from 3000bhp top fuel dragsters to classic rally cars, the Festival of Speed attracts the heroic and the evocative from every era in an exuberant display of style, sound, smell and colour.

From home we headed south on a nice sunny day of early July. After being directed to the motorbike parking area, a quick change of clothes (ie off the bike jacket/trousers and appear underneath jeans/dress; flipflips in the top box) and we enter the ground of the festival.

All day we browse by the paddocks, along the rally circuit in the forest, go see the vintage

cars and watch the series of races on the main track.
In the afternoon we were entertained by the Red Arrows' air routine. As always a top performance from the pilots.😊

Le Festival of Speed est la plus grand evenement auto en plein air au monde - un weekend d'ete qui apporte une concentration de voitures de toutes sortes, des celebrites du sport automobile afin de creer le plus grand evenement au monde. Organise dans le parc immacule de Goodwood House, cet evenement annuel est une pure celebration du sport automobile.
Des pilotes de Formule 1 actuels et leurs super voitures a 320 km/h aux charrettes a vapeur du 19e siecle, et des engins dragsters aux voitures rally classiques, le Festival of Speed attire la foule venue voir, ecouter et respirer l'Automobile.

Depuis la maison, nous sommes partis en direction du sud par une belle journee ensoleillee de juillet. Apres etre diriges vers le parking reserve aux motos, un rapide changement de vetements (on enleve veste/pantalon de moto et en dessous apparaissent jeans/robe; les tongues sont dans la top

box) et nous entrons au sein du festival.

Toute la journee nous flanons dans les paddocks, le long du circuit de rally dans la foret, a voir les voitures anciennes et regarder les differentes courses sur le circuit principal.
Dans l'apres midi, la patrouille des Red Arrows nous impressionne par leur routine aerienne.😊
