rowdy buggers! Heya! See speaking like a true pom already...
So here we are finally in the UK. Me and Bel just got back from seeing my family in Bradford for the last 4-5 days good getting up there to see them and even meet some of them for the first time! Nic is currently in Liverpool with her rellies and will be staying up there to work for the next 4-5 weeks to fund the rest of our adventures till we meet up again to travel Europe later in August-September.
The day we landed what an effort that was... our flight from NY got delayed so we wer put onto a new flight, delayed going into the air, and then delayed landing. This then delayed us from getting our busses to take us up North to see the family. Nicola was to go directly to Liverpool and me and Bel to see my family in Bradford. So we missed our bus, had to wait to get some connecting busses to take us up. Me and Bel then had to wait till mid night, get a bus to Birmingham, then wait another 3 hours to go to Manchester, then another hour to take
Lee, Rachel & Janet
My lovely family who took us in! us to Leeds, which by the end meant that all up we had done 24 straight ours of waiting and travelling! By the time we reached my Cousins place in Bradford it was 10am. Some how we were wide awake so we tried to stay up so we could catch up with the jet lag... Bel lasted till just after lunch, I was determind to stay up till 8pm! With alot of help from my Cousin Rachel and the nintendo Wii i actually made it too. Not to say that it wasnt the hardest thing i have ever had to do... well at least for a few weeks!
Our time up North with the family was amazing, i went from having next to no family in Australia to having so many Aunties, Uncles, Cousins, seconds cousins, etc... all wanting to meet me and catch up! Was great fun! A big thank you to everyone as well for making us feel so welcome while we were there, cant wait to come back in August.
While we were there we did alot of shopping in Leeds, our new fav store H&M and Primark although from what everyone keeps telling us Primark stuff
will all shrink or stretch or lose colour after the first wash, so looks like im not washing for a while :P The weather wasnt the best a little drizzly, cold and over cast for most of the time that we were there. But apparently thats just a typical Summer for them? Hmmm not my idea of summer. But on the bright side if you wanted to keep warm the pubs are all nicely heated.
We had a night out with the family on our 2nd night, then the Saturday we hit the town with my cousin Rachel and her BF Phillip. We headed out to Hallifax to the local pub for a charity event night, where Phil's Uncle was playing in a band. So we stayed drinking there till about mid night me sharing a bottle or 2 of wine with myself (as demostrated in the picture) cause no one else was drinking wine. Just the one glass please... From there we headed out to Bradford and went to the "apparent" Australian Pub called the Walkabout, only thing i could really see that made this pub Australian was the crocadile on the roof and that they sold VB and
Tooeys Extra Dry, Bel nearly cried when she saw thaT! The rest of the night is a bit of a blurr for me, sharing the wine with myself eventually taking its toll... But from the stories the next day we had a great night, going for a good old kebab on the way home, me making a scene by sitting on the floor outside to eat it cause there were no tables left. I was a picture of class! The one nice day we had while we were there was the Sunday which of course was speant in bed recovering from a nice hang over.
In the afternoon i went to visit my Dad's brother Uncle Chris and his wife who i was meeting for the first time. Complete opposite to my Dad which i laughed at. For those who dont know, my Dad is very loud and outspoken much like myself. Yes we now know who i get it from. Was great to go see them. The last few days were much of the same catching up with family, My Aunty Pauline and her son Gavin who was a barrel of laughs. Had us girls all in stiches with
his stories of...well you dont really want to know. Then seeing my Cousin Victoria her new fiance Jon and her son Ben, one of my fav little cousins!
And that brings us back to London. Me and Bel managed to get a direct train down from Leeds to London which was alot easier than catching 3 coaches! Were currently staying with Loz in Chiswick for a few days till we move into our new apparment we just got in Putney. Cant wait to move in and get settled for a few weeks. Not living out of a back pack will be great! The flat is so funky and new, has recently just been renovated so all new kitchen and bathroom and a nice big double room for me and Bel with lots of wardrobe space YAY! All we need now is a job. Bel has an interview Monday and i have been going for them for the last 2 days, were total pro's on the tube now. Not as tricky as i thought it was going to be. Unfortunaly no luck so far for me with a job, alot of companies are looking for someone who can commit more long
term. And with us going travelling again in 5 weeks i cant really do it? So may just get bar work for a bit till something comes up? Anyway thats the update for now getting on the piss tonight with the house to celebrate our new appartment and just cause its the weekend it seems like the right thing to do 😉
Have fun and keep the messages and comments coming guys love hearing from you! xxx The Girls
